I went to a Catholic school. Covington is only a Catholic school by name.

The nuns at my school would have paddled our asses if we acted like that. Sister Mary, the principle, had a big wooden paddle.

They are teaching hate at that school. Do they have nuns at that school? How old are these students?

Ky. Diocese to Pay Up to $120 Million to Sex-Abuse Victims
By Alan Cooperman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, June 4, 2005

The relatively small Roman Catholic diocese of Covington, Ky., said yesterday that it has agreed to create a record-setting $120 million fund to settle a class-action lawsuit over sexual abuse by priests.

The potential payout by the northern Kentucky diocese, which has about 90,000 parishioners, is 40 percent larger than the $85 million settlement negotiated in 2003 by the Boston Archdiocese, which has 2.1 million Catholics. The previous record was a $100 million settlement reached by the diocese of Orange County, Calif., in December.

People who can afford the tuition want their kids to go to school with other kids from rich families. I'm a product of Catholic education myself, but I switched to public high school just to avoid these types of assholes. I got a better, more rounded education as a result.

send their kids there. No surprise the kids act the way they do. Simply reinforcing what they have been carefully taught at home

I went to Covington Catholic grad in 73 and the brothers would lay hands on you if you got out of line.I know I sound like a broken record but these children learn maga at home. When I went to CCH the priests and brothers were accused with good reason of being too liberal. They taught me to question everything which is why I am no longer catholic

more of a shock when it happened at Catholic schools, because of all the talk about love and peace.

By the way, corporal punishment is still legal and practiced in a number of states. The Supreme Court had a case years ago where a kid ended up with a broken arm -- and that still wasn't enough for them to rule against corporal punishment.

But I agree with your larger point. My Catholic school wouldn't have allowed that kind of behavior on a school trip. Or the MAGA hats. They were representing the school, not a political party.

It has been a long time (almost 35 years ago) and that is not what we were taught there by the nuns or laity.

We learned values of love and compassion for our fellow man and woman. That is the way I try to lead my life.

I came from parents of simple means and there parents were immigrants to this country. If I wanted to attend the Catholic School, I had to take a summer job to be able to pay the tuition. The education I received meant something to me.

My speculation is these kids come from very well to do families and our current president has embolden the to make them feel superior it all aspect to those who are less fortunate.

Very sad fro me to see

Not that my Catholic-School friends ever mentioned. Jesuit priests, mainly.

Grade School or Girl's High Schools, hella nuns.

Now, most nuns are >75, and the few younger ones are Vietnamese or Filipino. At least at the convent I'm working with.

in both grammar and high school, supplemented by lay teachers and the occasional priest. Excellent educators, would not put up with this KY brand of catholicism.

Covington is across the river from Cincy.

There are differing strains in the RCC. One is this Irish/German Catholicism of my youth in Cincinnati. My cousins, who still attend weekly mass on the Westside, are rabid RTLers who sent their kids to this same march for years.

They vote straight GOP for one reason: Abortion. OK, 2 more reasons: Limbaugh and Fox.

Other strains of Catholicism are much more Liberal and enlightened.

The school was run by the Marianist Brothers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_of_Mary_(Marianists)

Nuns and priests have separate orders. So, I wouldn't expect nuns to be at a boy's school.
