Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHoward Schultz has an incredibly deluded sense of hubris and ego to think
1) that he can win 2) that he won't siphon off Democratic votes and elect Trump again. Hopefully he is only trying to sell books.

If he has "Libertarian" views (iow "I love hookers and pot. But not brown people or taxes)
he's going to get that coveted Gary Johnson vote if he hangs in.

(8,733 posts)There is a lot of assumptions going on here:
1) that anyone even actually gives a shit that he is running or even knows who the hell he is
2) with the likes of Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren running he has a 0.0% chance of getting the Democratic nomination.
3) there is no more room for a rich old white business guy with no political experience in this election or any election ever again.
In my opinion he would never get passed the first primaries. CA moved their primary to March. Once Senator Harris wins CA and a couple other states, her campaign will suck all the air out of the room and gain all the momentum.

If he goes into the General Election, he might pull enough Dem votes to re-elect Trump.

(8,733 posts)With each passing day it seems less and less likely that trump will still be in office, its much more likely he will eventually resign and/or go to jail than run for office again.
Running as an independent makes him even more irrelevant. Even well established independents like Stein or Johnson can only muster 1% or so. An unknown with a Libertarian lean would have very little impact on the final outcome (more so if the libertarians or Green Party run their own candidate...leaves very little room for brand differentiation)
