Tax evasion and money laundering. I think tax evasion carries the heavier jail time but I'm not sure. Just a matter of time.

... as a mere "process" crime, while tax evasion and money laundering is a straight-up offense. I think Obstruction is worse, but there ya go.

I think financial crimes are more straightforward to make stick.
Ask Paul Manafort. If it were not for one Trumpster in the jury, they would have nailed him on everything and they probably still can on those caught on mistrial. Those cases were put together very well - leaving little room for doubt.

That is where I think Trump and his kids are most vulnerable. Trump's CFO has flipped. Like Manafort, they would have a tough time fighting those charges because financial transactions, undeclared offshore bank accounts and tax evasion are harder to beat and they can be pardon proof at a state level.

And with financial crimes, like Manafort found out, they can seize must of the persons assets and hit them with stiff sentences. If Trump gets 20 years, at his age and obesity, that may well be a death sentence. As he's so leveraged, if they seize significant assets, his house of financial cards would collapse.

I have read some Republicans already trying to get him a Nixon deal: he gets off if he resigns ...
I'd be outraged because what they've been up to is far worse than Nixon. American society needs people like this to be taught a very harsh lesson.

First, paying bribes in the course of getting permits to build. Second, accepting money to run for president. Third, what was said when the transcripts of his meetings with Putin come out.*

* I know that the Russians will alter the dialog to their advantage. Tuff shit. chumpy never should have gone to the meeting without Americans to back him up and take notes.

But the better question one should be asking is "What is the worst thing that AGNY has on Trump?", because nobody but the NY AG can prevent Trump from being indicted on those charges.

And I'll say again: I believe there is already a tacit agreement between NYAG and SDNY to not bring the State charges until the feds have wrapped up their investigation or unless/until Trump pulls some nonsense and tries to squash the federal investigation somehow. I say this because financial crimes are easy to prove(remember how fast they had Manaforte charged?) and they have already been investigating these financial crimes for a period longer than it took to bring charges against Manaforte. IMO, The State of New York already has sealed felony indictments against every Trump and others within Trump Org.

Not While the Republicans control the Senate. The House can impeach and indict all they want, the Senate will never convict. McConnell and Pence have made that very clear.

The Senate will not possibly change to Democratic control until after 2020. For that to mean anything the Dems will have to take the Senate AND Trump will have to win re-election.

Should Trump lose or quit, he will either go the Nixon route and broker a pardon before he leaves, or spend his entire fortune fighting conviction in court until the day he dies. If conservative estimates of his wealth are true, he has the money to tie up any investigation in litigation hell for a good decade or more. Given how fat he is and his poor eating habits, I doubt he will get very far into his 80s.

So yeah, while is it fun and cathartic for us to know what Trump has done, we should also know that he's already got his get-out-of-jail-free card.
