(18,837 posts)They said the Republicans filed into the room and called for a vote to adjourn, which failed. Whitaker is now reading his opening statement. Unless MSNBC goes to live coverage with sound, I'll be switching to another channel.

(22,140 posts)so how is he getting away with this, especially when he's not even the permanent AG (a temp is all from what I gather).

(12,165 posts)Sure sounds like it.
No. I will NOT answer your questions because executive privilege and you cant make me.

(7,809 posts)They're carrying it live. As I type this, they are on break and replaying the hearing. No muss, no fuss, no pundits telling you what to think. The cameras and sound work.
MBS
(9,688 posts)I really recommend C-SPAN for the reasons you said. Plus no commercial breaks, either.
MBS
(9,688 posts)I should not be surprised by now, but still: the complete and treasonous abdication of their constitutional duties by congressional Republicans, and surrender to Trump, continues to shock me.

Silly me, I thought Southerner Repugs.wanted to get along and be conciliatory. They should have mentioned that only applied to Dems.

(58,670 posts)they have to do it. It's like a typical 'motion to dismiss' by a defendent at trial. They always do it and it almost never works.
Now they have the clip for Faux Noise to play, where they can say, "We tried! But the evil Dems wanted to continue their witch hunt." The sheeple will eat it up.

Oh, by the way, that shit for brains Doug Collins, the one who let go with a vomit filled rant at the beginning, is just to Nadler's immediate left, but, unfortunately, only makes it into camera range for a couple seconds, where he can be seen shaking his head and laughing....
Let's go after this dumb fucker- tweets, LTE, emails phone calls.... let him, his office and Americans know just who this turd is..

(2,187 posts)The GOP has to be wiped out after all the scandals are done. Wipe them out and start again under another name. The GOP is finished.

(10,779 posts)... by appealing to people's prejudices, fears, and resentment -- a.k.a. demagoguery.
Wounded Bear
(58,670 posts)most well known, I guess, but there were many more.
William Seger
(10,779 posts)... and the anti-liberal passion he incited is why Gingrich and the GOP made him the "unofficial party leader." Yes, reactionary demagogues have been around forever, but Limbaugh is "special" in the influence he has had on the current state of American politics. He makes me wish there was a hell.

(18,837 posts)Posted something on DU yesterday about Nunes snapping at reporters as he entered an elevator. They all have BIG sads.
Wounded Bear
(58,670 posts)They know that once they lose the voting public, they'll never get back into power.
They've been careening farther and farther to the right since Reagan, losing more and more rational moderates, and the only thing that has maintained their power is cheating and gaming the system, along with that echo chamber of RW media.
We should be able to flip the Senate in 20, and hopefully put them down for the count.

(8,020 posts)he was very belligerent, even telling Chairman Nadler that his five minutes were up. This is the type of cooperation we can expect from trumpsters from now on.

(20,818 posts)they just can't handle the fact that they are no longer the majority and in charge and that now they and their Dear Great Leader will be held accountable and there's little they can do about it. Boo-effing-hoo. ROFLMAO!
