Adult discourse

Sometimes two or three conflicting notions can be true at the same time, especially in regards to the conduct of human beings. Nancy Pelosi has done many great things for this country and its' citizens, but that doesn't mean she is not corrupt in some ways. Not only do we fully acknowledge the ethical breakdown of certain Republicans when they receive money from Big Pharma, we often cannot understand why everybody doesn't just see they are bought and paid for. We must be similarly honest with elected officials of the Democratic Party. That's what grown ups do.

When George W. Bush was president after 9-11, Republicans tried to paint all Democratic criticisms or critiques of Bush specifically or America's history in general as treasonously anti-American. Many Democrats and other serious people tried to point out that one could be critical of their country while still loving one's country. Bill Maher and others often pointed out that Republicans love their country like a child loves his mommy, whereas Democrats love their country like adults.

This site, and its' members, should be able to identify substantive and legitimate concerns regarding the actions or beliefs of our Party's elected officials and differentiate it from Russian troll interference level garbage. Echo chambers aren't good for the Right, and they won't be good the rest of us. Pelosi isn't evil, neither is Bernie or AOC. Just because certain Progressives or Liberals are critical of the Democratic Party's decisions or actions, doesn't mean they have no place in the discussions on these boards.

My dad is a racist. By being honest about it, pointing it out in appropriate moments and trying to help him overcome this short-coming, that doesn't mean I don't love him. The Democratic Party needs to have similar tough love for its' elected officials. There's no election in the next 6 months, or even this year. This is the appropriate time to discuss and attempt to enforce some standards in our Party, and it will be appropriate all the way until the end of the primaries. And then we will need to be adults and come together and win the election.
