El Paso County passes resolution condemning Trump's lies just hours before his rally.
The resolution lays out a number of concerns with Trump's rhetoric surrounding illegal immigration, particularly as it relates to El Paso. The resolution says Trump "has continuously made inaccurate claims about the United States' southern border, including El Paso."
It also cited Trump's State of the Union speech from Tuesday, when he said El Paso's violent crime rate dropped precipitously after a barrier was built along the border. The resolution noted that the county's violent crime rate dropped 62 percent from 1993-2007, and that a fence wasn't installed until 2008. Link to tweet

15. My personal recollection of forty years in Texas is that El Paso was always a pretty safe place
It was Ciudad Juarez that was dangerous, and it only became that way after decades of the moronic war on drugs. Some of my fondest memories as an adolescent were from trips to Mexico. Only in South Texas could you walk past four different watering holes and alternately hear honky-tonk, a banda, polkas and rock 'n roll. Roll a bit north and east and the blues were king along with barrel house. I truly miss the cultural melange that is South Texas. I do not miss all the peckerheads that moved in from the midwest for work in the 70s and 80s and in my mind brought much of the racism and current problems with them. Now East Texas is a truly racist place and always has been, but then it also had the greatest regional production of cotton in the nation prior to the civil war. The Texicans had more or less settled their grievances with the Mexicans by the 1920s or 30s (mostly by murdering them all), but East Texas loved slavery so much they fought the civil war multiple times.
