Adding my two cents re: income taxes

Just finished figuring this year's Federal taxes. With pretty much the same income, but having hundreds more withheld, our Federal tax burden went up over $1,900, and our refund dropped over $1,500 when compared to last year. Explained this to the hubs. He is pissed. I'm none too happy myself. Tax reform is screwing us all.

I got a big tax cut.

The “no child penalty” is gone for me.

If they were going to eliminate personal deductions, existing children should have been grandfathered.

The tax scam is destroying the finances of many families.

From what I've read, a lot of deductions have been scrapped or reduced.

But isn't it great?

A brilliant way to tell everybody that it isn't 'business as usual'.
Doesn't matter who you voted for, Dems, Repubs, or not bothered, everyone gets the same message loud and clear. Hip pocket nerve, every one has one, no matter their political affiliation.

Oh, the message? It's 'You are not the beneficiaries of the tax cuts, sucks to be you, middle America.'
I hope that sour taste in the mouth still lingers next time a vote is called for.

Just like he's done with who'd pay for the wall, and he wouldn't touch Medicaid , Medicare, and Social Security then took just under 2 trillion out of those programs, just like he claimed the middle class would get huge tax cuts when it was for the wealthy, and just like he claimed better health care costing less with more covered and everyone covered then cut millions from there health care while premiums skyrocketed from their changes. Con men often do this and use it over and over again on the weak minded that don't want to accept they've backed a crook, a treasonous one at that.

We are getting doubly screwed. My wife's withholding was dramatically reduced because of the higher standard deduction. in the past we were able to itemize, but now we are losing around $13,000 of deductions. We now owe quite a bit, when we got refunds previously.

And my federal tax went up about $1400. Ain’t that grand. Thankfully we hadn’t changed my withholding, so at least I don’t have to come up with that money now.
