(47,300 posts)he was fired.
Biden made it clear from the get go that this kind of behavior would not be tolerated.

(1,555 posts)But he should have been fired based on what President Biden said when they were all introduced. It looks bad and no one needs that kind of distraction.

(34,466 posts)For incivility, he set a high standard. If he were to look the other way in this incident, it would reflect badly on him.
In my work experience, people typically have engaged in bad behavior several or more times before they are caught and held to account.

(5,557 posts)A White House official tried to quash a story about his relationship with a reporter by issuing threats and using derogatory language to another reporter pursuing it, according to two sources familiar with the incident. In a sympathetic profile Monday, People revealed that White House Deputy Press Secretary TJ Ducklo is dating Axios political reporter Alexi McCammond, who covered the Joe Biden campaign. But behind the scenes, Ducklo had previously lashed out at Politico reporter Tara Palmeri, who was reporting the story, exhibiting behavior that led to tense meetings between the Washington news outlets editors and senior White House officials.
After Vanity Fair published this account, the White House announced that Ducklo would be suspended for one week.
The confrontation began on Inauguration Day, January 20, after Palmeri, a coauthor of Politicos Playbook, contacted McCammond for comment while one of her male colleagues left a message for Ducklo, according to the sources. Ducklo subsequently called a Playbook editor to object to the story, but was told to call the Playbook reporters with his concerns. But instead of calling the male reporter who initially contacted him, Ducklo tried to intimidate Palmeri by phone in an effort to kill the story. I will destroy you, Ducklo told her, according to the sources, adding that he would ruin her reputation if she published it.

(5,557 posts)How/where are you celebrating your birthday and with whom? There are 42 days until Election Day, so celebrate is a strong word, but I plan to observe my birthday with a few friends tonight before probably going back to work after.
Whats a fun fact that people in Washington might not know about you? In high school, I played the marimba -- like a fancy xylophone -- and was a wizard at it. Im serious. I slayed the marimba. I didnt start dating until college.

(768 posts)Ducklo is a longtime Biden aide fighting stage 4 cancer. Recently he uncharacteristically lost his temper and said some horrible things to a reporter asking about his love life. He immediately apologized.
The Biden team didn't fire him but instead suspended him without pay. Rumor is because if they fired him he would lose his health insurance and he is still receiving cancer treatments. So they gave him a chance to resign which he did today.
Ducklo's career and reputation is ruined. He's no longer a part of the Biden administration. He made a huge mistake, apologized directly to his victim and is now unemployed. I think the Biden team handled this correctly and Ducklo did the right thing by stepping down.
And I'm guessing the beltway press is going to continue to try to dig up scandals like this about Biden because of his promise to fire anyone who acts inappropriately. But hey that's Washington DC for ya.

Name one IMPOTUS II staffer who ever, ever apologized for their abusive behavior toward the press. Name one media member who did more than lightly complain.
