FDR: An American Prayer

We are all of us children of Earth

The Spirit of man has awakened
The Soul of man has gone forth

Grant us the wisdom and the vision
to comprehend the greatness of man's Spirit
that suffers and endures so hugely for a goal
beyond his own brief span

We are all of us children of Earth
Grant us that simple knowledge
If our brothers are oppressed,
then we are oppressed
If they hunger, we hunger
If their freedom is taken away,
our freedom is not secure

Grant us a common faith,
that man shall know bread and peace
That he shall know justice and righteousness,
Freedom and security, an equal opportunity,
and an equal chance to do his best,
not only in our own lands, but throughout the world.

And in that faith, let us march,
march toward the clean world our hands can make.
Amen

Franklin Delano Roosevelt
June 14, 1942

The common faith of Democratic Party, as true today as it was 75 years ago.

What a beautiful prayer! Thank you for posting this.

Your OP title reminded me of another inspiring 'American Prayer' and president.

That Pepublican’s did everything they could to tear Obama down did not change a thing. ‘I am my brothers keeper. I am my sisters keeper’. - we are all of us children of earth.

McConnell in particular. Now he is licking the shoes of the orange menace. What a clown he is. How much money does he need, that he demeans himself daily? President Obama was the target for McConnell and the gop. They do not like highly intelligent people. Now they have a crude, rude, no-class. not too smart con man in the WH. He is their dream president. He signs anything they put in front of him. We lost a terrific president when President Obama left. Now, look at the disaster the repulsive orange arse has produced. Thanks, gop.

The GOP as a Party lies in ruins. The Democratic Party, for all the trials and turbance is the same proud American Institution that nominated FDR in 1932 and Obama in 2008.
