Kristol: House Oversight Committee should vote on resolution condemning Gaetz before Cohen testfies

Tweet from Bill Kristol, a couple of hours ago:

When the House Committee on Oversight and Reform convenes tomorrow morning, and before Cohen testifies, shouldn't Chairman Cummings make in order a committee debate and vote on a resolution condemning Gaetz for this attempt to intimidate a witness before the Committee?

Editing to add Kristol's other tweets on this subject, two before the tweet above, and one after:

This loathsome. It deserves the censure of his colleagues, and perhaps of the House itself, as attempted intimidation of a witness testifying before a House committee. More important, though: What does this say about the degree of panic among Trump allies about Cohen’s testimony?

If a witnesses were going to lie, you’d counter with the truth. If a witness is going to tell the truth, and if you’re terrified of the truths he’s going to tell, you attempt this kind of thuggish intimidation.

How did Gaetz find out whatever alleged information he claims to know? Did Gaetz hear this from Trump (or someone dispatched by Trump)? Did Trump (or a surrogate) encourage Gaetz to threaten Cohen? Perhaps Cummings should offer Gaetz a chance to answer these questions under oath?

As far as I'm concerned, they should not settle for merely a rebuke -- make sure every party with jurisdiction over this matter exercises the full extent of their authority.
