High Cost of Pharmaceuticals--Advertising

There's so much wrong with our pharmaceutical environment.

First, what value does advertising give? It must cost a fortune for all of that advertising. Why would anyone have to ask one's doctor about a drug. Wouldn't he already know if it was indicated?

Doesn't the omnipresent advertising suggest an easy way to remedy a situation (Take a pill) instead of the possibly harder way to work on one's own body by losing weight, eating better, exercising?

Doesn't the advertising lead to over-prescribing? Thereby leading to other drugs to counter the side effects?

I don't think that drugs should be advertised on televison. Just say no.

...for prescription pharmaceuticals are the U.S. and New Zealand. And New Zealand has a national health care system.

2. The advertising by big Pharma is completely wrong in my opinion

but it does help pay for cable noise infotainment if their blathering opinions are important to you.
