But she is a fucking GEM!!
I've never in my political lifetime (I remember my mother crying when JFK was assassinated ..)come across a more competent, realistic genuine citizen representative. This individual strikes me as someone who is truly engaged as what someone who the founders envisioned as a representative in the House.
Just compare her 1 month in office to the YEARS of scumbags like Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Jason Chavez, Devon Nunez, Louie Gohmert, etc, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum. And my wonderful congressman, member of the House Fascist Caucus, Andy Biggs, ALL Moronic Trump boot lickers with ZERO self respect, zero respect for the constitution. Zero respect for the rule of law. TRAITORS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.
AOC kicks all of their collective ass.
I, as a middle aged white guy, will do everything in my power to elect her President (when she's old enough..)
I will actively campaign for her. If possible, I would like to join her administration.
She is the future of America. And it delights me to no end that the Repukes are ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED of her...
You go girl!!

(1,783 posts)What an absolute breath of fresh air she is.
With AOC leading the way and making sorely needed waves in D.C., I feel so confident in the future of our Party right now. I feel like the path ahead for our nation has been chosen, and that this brilliant, witty, intelligent woman will lead us down that path.

(26,471 posts)I think she needs a lot more polish - but in the same breathe - she must know she's providing shade (and fire from conservatives) from others who can normalize what's she's saying and doing.
Funny how people like socialistic policies, but despise the vague definition of socialism as defined by the Pukes?
With a bit "more polish" and experience, she could some day be running for president or perhaps she may end up becoming Speaker of the House. Hopefully she can gain that polish without becoming scripted like so many promising politicians, though I don't think that will happen with her. It really helps that she is not financially beholden to any special interests.
She will undoubtedly make some freshman mistakes, but she seems tough enough to recover and keep going.

(2,168 posts)What first impressed me about AOC was how she brings her HEART to work! That's certainly something that those scumbags could learn from her - that is, if they have any heart left.
The second thing that impressed me was her courage, and how she sets the record straight and doesn't put up with any shit from anybody.
And last but not least, the more I watch her in action, the more I realize that she is one heckuva smart cookie! In those hearings, she was prepared, and she knew exactly what she was doing, and where she was going.
And that, of course, scares the Republi-pukes shitless, 'cause they've done such a downright lousy job for so many years. They're not only scared shitless of her personally, but they're also scared shitless of how she might inspire up and coming or future legislators to emulate her - which could wind up costing them their jobs.

She now commands a mini-bully pulpit. Let's hope she can use it to the fullest......

(6,314 posts)Had the right treated her like pretty much any other new member of Congress, her words and ideas would have had comparatively little influence. But because of the incessant, unhinged assaults on her, she has a national platform and is making the most of it.
Yes, the sky is the limit indeed!

(1,220 posts)I was 13 when President Kennedy was assassinated. The Democratic Party was a different party then. AOC would have been considered a traditional Democrat back then. Now her ideas are called radical by the very people who moved the political center of this nation to the extreme right.
We need more AOCs to bring our party back to the true center - which is where democracy lives.
The repubicans have shown their true face and we must never forget that face. They can never be trusted again. In reality, the gop should be banned for their treasonous behavior, IMO.

Personally, I favor Kamala Harris at this time, but then again,
I thought Tim Tebow was the second coming
of an NFL QB. It is early, and as we know from history
the field of candidates will diminish rapidly by investigative
reporting, or by saying something stupid. I just pray the strongest,
not the luckiest will prevail.

(26,883 posts)I hope she doesn't change. It seems as if a lot of establishment Democrats are terrified of her, because she's willing to speak up about things they won't. A few years in the House, maybe a term or two in the Senate and after that I really hope she becomes President.

(4,737 posts)And we need that, now more than ever. She is definitely not from the sternly worded letter school of political discourse. Of course, the RWers are all over her with their attacks. I fully expect to see Republican campaign fliers next year with unflattering pictures of her all over them, connecting Democrats to her. Why? Republicans are scared to death of her. She is appealing to young folks, and empowering them. If that translates into young people voting, it will be a massacre come election time.

(6,699 posts)I'm with you on this one. Not only is she a brilliant source of ideas with guts and fortitude...she can articulate her ideas like a master communicator.
The right is scared shitless of her. She has the bold ideas of FDR in a period when this country is on the brink of being flushed down the toilet by this orange shitgibbon and his cult of brainless, treasonous morons. I always knew we were a nation with millions of morons, but I never suspected it was 40+% of the country. We are a seriously sick country. Seriously sick!
She may not be able to get all these ideas in the works, but "we the people" need to get this "racist, con artist and cheat" out of the Wjite House and flush Congress of as many cowardly repuKKKes as possible, so we can roll over these obstructionist slimeballs as soon as possible.
She is our future, along with other brave progressives. This is a political Civil War...and we have to win! Take no prisoners!!
