A huge wind storm rolled through our part of Germany yesterday and this morning and half the trains were canceled. I picked up a nasty cold yesterday from having to wait outside in the cold wind forever for trains that never came. I have to fly down to Barcelona this afternoon, but my ears are clear, so it should be OK. The only downside is that my wife, who usually comes with me on this annual trip, can't make it this year, so it will be a little lonelier than usual.

Traveling can be a lot of fun but not that easy. I frequently caught colds and suffered mild thrombosis especially from long flights. Always had to allow at least a few days to recover.

This happens usually every February/March and October/November, which are my most work-intensive months.

Next month, I have to go over to the States for 2 weeks, less than 2 weeks after coming back, I booked a two.day working trip to Porto in Portugal. We've never been to Porto, and we'll have a day to explore the place.

I'm in Barcelona now, hoping my cough will calm down enough to let me sleep. I haven't been to New Orleans since 1981. I'll bet the food is still good!
