There's a major fire next to my mother's apartment

In Bronxville, NY. Fire Department has issued an General-alarm call for any available firefighters, and has pulled emergency crews out of the building. 150 people evacuated. Fortunately my mother's building (to the right in the picture) doesn't appear to be at risk.

To see others in a building like hers and so close by in peril would be heart-wrenching.

Warmest thoughts for your mom.

She moved out some time ago but still has many friends in that one and others near by. Last I heard everyone was out safe, pray that's still true. Wonder if our mom's know each other?

Best to your mom, next time you speak say Hi from a old neighbor.

YONKERS - Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire that forced about 150 people from their homes and sent about 12 firefighters to the hospital after flames incinerated the top floor of a Yonkers apartment building on Tuesday night.

About 110 firefighters spent more than 10 hours battling a blaze that destroyed the roof of a six-floor building at 15 Parkview Ave.

"It was like Armageddon in there," Nichole Gray, who lives in an adjacent building and saw the blaze Tuesday night, said at the scene today. "It was absolutely insane."

"The men are really taxed," Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief John Folkerts said this morning at the scene, where firefighters were dealing with some hot spots in the building. "They did a great job last night. Everything went pretty smooth."

Apparently two cats were safely rescued as well.
