(7,142 posts)where is the complicit M$M coverage of this to shoot down the narrative that the Mueller investigation is too costly?

caught for the FARA and money laundering crime. In violating the
act, he not only hid it from the American people but also the people
that worked for him.

Re: the argument by Manafort's lawyers that Manafort has supported family and friends financially, Weissmann says: "That in other circumstances would be truly admirable, it is less so when it is done with other peoples money."

Weissmann calls Manaforts violation of FARA "egregious," saying Manafort not only failed to report his work for Ukraine, but he had other companies involved conceal their role, created a sham group to serve as a "fig leaf," and then filed an "false and incomplete" report in 2017

Re: the witness tampering conspiracy, Weissmann says that it's a crime that goes to the "heart" of the justice system, and notes that Manafort tried to interfere with witnesses while he was already the subject of a prosecution

Manafort is now addressing the court. "In my previous allocation I told Judge Ellis I was ashamed for my conduct...I want to say to you now that I am sorry for what I have done and for all the activities that have gotten me here today."

(58,785 posts)with how he behaved in Judge Ellis's court. He must have felt arrogantly confident then that he didn't need to lower himself to pretending shame.
Ellis gives extremely low sentence for a mostly "blameless" man, setup for a "quid pro quo" pardon that's undoubtedly coming.
