(37,648 posts)That the Special Counsel chose not to indict any of the Trump family for Russia-related crimes, and Trump for obstruction of justice.
It could be that Trump wasn't indicted for obstruction because he's a President. We don't know.
And I THINK there are still some sealed indictments that we still don't know what they are for.

(37,648 posts)This is a discussion forum. We are adults, discussing a critical report that was turned in. Discussing what that means we know and don't know is not "freaking out."

And certainly not all of it. It will be redacted.
Congress will get it, or a summary of it, though. Trump will use all his power to prevent anyone getting the whole report (the law says the AG only has to provide a summary or redacted version).

(63,221 posts)I'm not freaking out, but I don't have a lot of faith that we are going to get to see the report in it's entirety. Nor do I have much faith in the belief that justice will be done concerning this joke of an administration. I am glad so many people are so optimistic.

(37,648 posts)Mueller did not indict any American for Russia-connected crimes. Noteworthy is that no member of the Trump family was indicted.
It's possible he shows evidence of obstruction of justice against Trump. Trump can't be indicted, according to by-the-book people.
So that's what we know. We DON'T know whether the evidence is there for some other authority to take action, whether it's indictments or impeachment.

(6,254 posts)No more indictments is all we need to know. Forget SDNY thats another media scam to get us to watch. WE are all suckers, dupes, raving lunatics. For 2 years we have read and obsessed over this investigation and its a NOTHINGBURGER. Just get accustomed to hearing the word NOTHINGBURGER. WE GOT FUCKED GOOD.

(37,648 posts)Mueller indicted about 37 people, most of whom were for Russian interfering in our election and democracy. But those were Russians. The Americans have been indicted for lying and money-related crimes, campaign finance, and other things. With the possible exception of Flynn.
Mueller did not indict any American for Russia-conspiracy crimes. We know that. Particularly the Trump family.
This was the purpose of the investigation, and he did his job. So we weren't "had." This was the purpose of the Special Counsel.
Knowing something occurred, and proving it beyond a reasonable doubt are two different things. I've said all along that it's very difficult to get the head guy because they generally buffer themselves from crimes, giving oral instructions to staffers to do their dirty work for them. Trump has been operating as a crime boss for decades, so he knows not to say stupid things or be caught doing criminal acts directly.
What we DON'T know: If Mueller found obstruction of justice by Trump. If he did, he wouldn't indict Trump, since Mueller is a by-the-book guy, and it's generally accepted that Presidents can't be indicted.
The investigation was not a waste of time or money. It was necessary and has been fruitful. If he found that the Trump campaign didn't aid and abet, then so be it. We have to respect that.
But it's possible he found evidence of Russia-related crimes but is passing it on to the DOJ or whoever to take action. He would probably not indict someone for those things, if it would tip the hand to possible future indictments.
We were hoping for indictments of Jr. and Kushner, I know. So that's a disappointment. But the investigation was not a waste of time or money. The NY courts are also not through filing their own indictments for various things.
Let's not forget that the investigation led to The Trump Foundation being shut down and Trump fined.

(6,254 posts)what. Unless there is robust follow up and indictments of all those around him that lied and schemed then it will all have been a waste. I mean I want to see a quick follow up with indictments on his kids for everything they did. They lied and conspired. If we leave this to Congress it will quickly be drown out by the rw media who will excuse any Trump behavior. Congresss only power is to investigate and make referrals to DOJ that will go nowhere and impeachment which will never happen. Anything the Manhattan DA does and NY State AG will be twisted as retaliation for Muellers inaction. If this were a Democratic President Mueller would have indicted or the Republicans would go after him. Without Mueller indictments of Trumps crime family this has been 2 years of nothing. We already know 90% of what there is to know and still no indictments. I am devasted.
