(46,327 posts)One thing that is going to be foremost on your mind is keeping away from that thug.
Because it could end up with you knifed, shot, wounded or killed.
So somebody filmed the thug and then called the cops.
Now said thug is in JAIL, where he belongs.

(10,168 posts)But I'm 62 and I would have jumped him anyway. I just could Not help myself if I saw him beating on an old woman. It would just be instinct.
He didn't have a knife or anything. He would have used it if he did. He kicked her repeatedly, like she was a dog.

(46,327 posts)I've been beaten by a thug who was high on PCP.
The terror I felt being beaten still haunts me, 35+ years later.

(10,168 posts)If I'd been there, I would have tried to help you. I've been beaten too. Many a time. Lost my front tooth and broke my nose that way. Usually it's NOT me who starts the fight. But I just can't stand by and watch the weak be abused by the strong. I guess one of these days it's going to really hurt, but in the mean time.....
No, he didn't have a weapon that was clear. But I noticed he waited until the end of ride to start kicking in her face. And he picked an old woman who was sitting by herself...what a coward. A coward like that would have used a weapon on her, if he had it. I would have jumped him. If I had seen it, I would have just reacted and not have thought it through.

(46,327 posts)The guy who beat the older woman has a rap sheet longer than I am, and should have been in jail.
As to the guy who beat me up, here he is:

Molests anyone he wants to, beats up people at random, is a hopeless alcoholic and doper, just a complete loser.
If he's not in jail again already, he will be soon. He can't stop offending.
So people on that bus did the right thing, and now the thug is in jail. Good.

(26,291 posts)Either grant the waiver and be able to hopefully monitor him or deny it and then have absolutely no way to really track him or at least that is if I understood the article correctly.

(10,168 posts)Like I said, I wouldn't have thought it through...that's just me.
Yeah, you are right it is easy to say especially on some website. But I'll say it anyway because it's true.

I'm afraid I would have tried something, though.

(21,106 posts)could have sat there and watched this happen without acting.

(10,168 posts)And once the first person takes action, it gets others going too.
Seen it in crowds before. Everyone just watches as the abuse takes place then someone acts and it's like the crowd wakes up.

(31,261 posts)Unless you were 100% sure that he was not armed, confronting him violently was not the best tact. I do think one of the people watching could have walked up to him and ask him to stop kicking the old lady. He may have attacked the second person, or he may have stopped the attack. Just going up throwing punches would be be a good idea unless there was certainty that one punch was going to knock him out cold.

(37,648 posts)As he was walking away, the video cuts off after a woman clearly says, "Excuse me" to him. He turns toward her and says something mean but continues walking. SHE GOT A CLEAR SHOT OF HIS FACE.
It was a woman who dared to stop him before he left, risking injury to herself.
Like I said, some people have that "I must do something" in their DNA.
I watched the video and saw that there was no one right there by the old woman, which was why he chose her, maybe. It was too fast for someone to jump up, because each time, it looked like he was leaving, but then he kicked her again. So it was too fast, really. IMO. But the woman stopped him.
They need to get him off the streets permanently. (He must have some serious Mommy issues.)
Yeah, that. Welcome to being what's wrong with the world, B.
