Attorney General William Barr has released a 4-page summary of Robert Mueller's report. Barr's summary not only glosses over the findings and leaves holes in Mueller's report, but it also buries a critical detail. Barr has decided not bring obstruction of justice charges against Trump for trying to impede in the investigation. This despite the fact that Trump himself admitted he fired FBI director James Comey to stop the Russia investigation.
Here's the bottom-line: 1) The full report must be made public. 2) Muellers records must be preserved. 3) Congress must have unfettered access to all the findings. 4) Congress must investigate when Barr decided not to charge Trump with obstruction of justice. The American people deserve more than a summary released on a Sunday afternoon.

(1,376 posts)Jerry Nadler's already stated he is going to call Barr in, to testify in public, and under oath.
This is not going to end well for the GOP.

(3,483 posts)a FINAL decision. Further action can follow.
But I would be willing to bet that Barr already has some kind of defense ready against being forced to comply.
Probably being furiously written right now by Neal Katyal, who, amazingly, apparently has powers far beyond our comprehension, to make up stuff that trumps the Constitution.

(6,446 posts)Yeah, anyone can see jail time for refusing to appear... your argument is bogus. Unless you assume these folk are willing to accept jail time for refusal....

Having served thousands of subpoenas I can assure you my argument is not bogus.
Far far far fewer people than you would imagine ever serve any jail time either, but some do. However, that requires a whole new case, lots of time, lots of expense, and a conviction.

(9,988 posts)Given Barrs stated ideas that a president cannot be indicted or even investigated, we will never know whether he is covering up Trump crimes unless we see the full report. I do not trust Barr one iota.

It's a tweet from a reporter. No corroboration yet but it wouldn't shock us around here if the description was accurate.

(9,426 posts)the summary ahead of time? After all, he knows tRump is an innocent man, right? How could anyone skim through reams of documents in a few hours? Easily, if their mind is already made up - NO collusion!! Who among us is surprised? I wonder why tRump has been so nervous, since he is an innocent man? Much more to come. Release the entire report.
