Democrats, here's what to remember about Mueller

Democrats, remember that 99 percent of the time, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s political instincts are solid. She warned against fanning impeachment flames. No matter how much evidence special counsel Robert S. Mueller III found of obstruction — he DID NOT exonerate President Trump — Republicans will never, ever agree to impeach or remove him. Support for impeachment has never been high. Where does that leave Democrats?

I’ll offer some observations about the political implications for Democrats:

1. Democrats won a historic victory in 2018 running not on impeachment/Russia but on health care and economic issues. They will have to do the same in 2020 to dislodge Trump.

2. The Southern District of New York, New York state prosecutors and other jurisdictions continue to investigate Trump, his associates, his foundation, his business and/or his family. We don’t know if we’ll hear the results before the 2020 election, but Trump has already been fingered — as “Individual 1” — in ordering Michael Cohen to commit a crime. That alone should disqualify him from reelection, but again, the better case is that Trump is guilty of betraying the “forgotten men and women" he said he’d look out for.

1. I feel bad for the people who actually were counting on the Mueller findings

I am not one of those people, I’ve understood for a long time it will take action and voting to get out of this mess.

OTOH I never thought Mueller would be the instrument that would do Trump in.

Mueller was exceptionally discrete, so there was way to much speculation. I read article after article warning against expecting too much.

Now, I think there is plenty in the report to damage Trump, I think his legal troubles are by no means over, but there never was an easy win here.

The question is would we have been better off if there never was a Mueller report. My answer is no.

5. I don't think anyone here buys the Mueller report's conclusion. This only pisses people off.

I don't think anyone thinks the Trump family is honest. His followers love him because he's their crook. But no one thinks he's not a crook.

This might hurt a few days, but it's going to fan the flames. Trump is above the law. He's going to gloat, he's going to egg, he's going to piss off everyone that doesn't like him already. I don't know a single person that's gone, darn I was wrong. That Trump dude must be okay after all.

9. I think it's the talking that is going to piss people off more. If they were smart they'd shut up

From his fake university, to his fake charity, to his fake net worth, to his criminal personal lawyer, to his father laundering money to him through his casino ... his whole life has been a scam.

The dude has always gotten away with it. The thing is, you can only fake being president so long.

Sadly it's the slowly imploding economy that's likely going to cost him 2020. I just don't see how 2020 isn't going to be a very ugly economic year. He's printing treasury notes like mad and no one wants them. Add Brexit to the fire and this summer will not be a pleasant one on Wall Street.

It's the economy stupid, should be the rally call of 2020. We all know he's a crook. It's a given now. But that he's a crook running a sinking economic ship won't be acceptable.

8. We need to stop calling what we're talking about the "Mueller Report"

Only a few (maybe more if Barr passed out copies to the Trump Admin) have actually seen the Mueller Report.

Call it what it is the "Barr Summary".
