Why does Schiff have to wait "weeks" for the full report?

As head of the intelligence committee he has a security clearance does he not??? He should have the full report NOW and if he and Barr BOTH want to go through it so Schiff can see exactly what is being redacted and WHY, then I’m cool With them taking a few weeks if necessary. But I’m not cool with knowing Barr is cutting out ANYTHING that does support his letter, which is what is going to happen if he isn’t being babysat.

Right now that report is like crime scene. The longer Barr is allowed to tamper with it, the less likely we are to ever see what was really in it.

if he sees that Barr is lying about his report I do not expect him to sit back and do nothing. Subpoena Barr and Mueller to sit side by side at the same public Congressional hearing. If Republicans fight a subpoena, Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow should invite Bob Mueller to appear on their shows. Democrats need to bring a gun to a gun fight. We can't wait years until we see the Mueller report, we need to see it before the 2020 election and then drive it up every Republican's ass.

1. to allow Congress the grand jury testimony like it did with Nixon

2. They need an impartial panel or judge set up to review executive privilege for viewing by Congress
Kind of like what they did reviewing Cohen's evidence for attorney-client privilege stuff

They need to get going. It could take a long time to review what 20 lawyers and 40 FBI agents and many warrants, subpoenas, etc collected over a couple of years.

They could get one fairly quick pass on everything but executive privilege once the grand jury hurdle is cleared. National security concerned material could be reviewed by those cleared to see it as to what can be made public - as a second pass.

So very quickly, it most of the report could be made available to Congress except that claimed to be covered by executive privilege. And that only kicks in for the period after he was in office - not for all the evidence during his campaign or before he was sworn in.

Jill Winebank from Watergate stated that it should only take a matter of days to do what you listed. It only takes a couple of days to get a judge to release grand jury testimony, that's all the longer it took for Watergate.

No they don't need a panel set up to do your #2. Mueller should have everything that involves national security highlighted, as well as executive privilege. A Congressional Committee is allowed to see classified information.

3 days max should be all that is needed to release the report.

Part of what allowed the grand jury testimony to proceed in Watergate:
https://www.lawfareblog.com/watergate-road-map-and-coming-mueller-report

Jaworski concluded that the best course of action would be for the grand jury, through Judge Sirica, to provide the House with some of the evidence it had collected about Nixon’s alleged crimes and let the House decide whether and how the evidence implicated impeachable offenses. The evidence consisted of 800 pages of documents and 13 tape recordings of Nixon’s Oval Office conversations. To assist the House in understanding the evidence, the Special Prosecutor’s Office included a 55-page “Road Map” to the evidence. The Road Map did not contain legal analysis or draw legal conclusions. Each page had a sentence or two of factual statements followed by references to the underlying documents and tapes.
...
Judge Sirica stated in his decision permitting the transmission of the document to the House Judiciary Committee that the Road Map contained “no accusatory conclusions[,] ... no recommendations, advice or statements that infringe on the prerogatives of other branches of government ... [and] no moral or social judgments.”

Barr rendering his decision on obstruction of justice stunk that up some because the whole world knows about it and it may well be part of the reason he did it.

Mueller appears to have done what Jaworski did- by the book - more or less. He just collected the evidence and prepared it to be considered by congress without conclusions - like what Judge Sirica wanted.

It is apparent that Mueller did this because he believes the case on obstruction is worthy of consideration by congress. Like the bar on proceeding with prosecutions where the prosecutor should have 95% confidence he can prove beyond reasonable doubt, Mueller is not going to all this trouble to waste the time of Congress. So it is pretty close to a life and death struggle for Trump.

They're going to tie it up in court and fight tooth and nail over every little issue.

Until their lies and twisted projection-narrative can be repeated by everyone, friend and foe alike.

Handing out the full Mueller report would inform the press and the public, and allow for critical analysis, rebuttals and who-knows-what-else.

These are some genuinely fascist tactics being employed by Republicans.
