Empires Fall. Emperors Fail.
I've really had no coherent reactions to the Mueller report/Barr hijack/Trump gaslight activity this week.
My strategy - look through past history and remember the words of Yeats - "things fall apart, the center cannot hold".
Trump will get his - somehow, some way, some day. Certainly not quick enough, certainly not in the way many of us wish. My heart aches for the general decline not just in the US, but all over the world...my background as a chemist reminds me of entropy - things go to disorder. My own corollary of this is that positive, meaningful change for all people is hard to do due to the big central lump of apathy,...add to that these days the power of money and greed.
It's quite a time - to reinforce personal activism toward positive change, getting Democrats elected, staying as optimistic as possible.
Yet - it is also a time to refresh and reinforce each of ourselves - spending time doing the things we love with the people we love.
I still maintain it will be our earth - the climate - that has the last laugh. Sadly, those of us who realize this are being held hostage by those who are ignorant or short sighted.
Perhaps my expectations have just sunk to extremely low levels...but what has transpired this week really doesn't surprise me. It is just where we are, it is where things are at. And that is....sad.
