Look at this picture.
When youre looking at this photo, youre looking at a mirror. This is America. This is Texas. This is our course of action, the one we chose.
I cannot and will not accept it.

This is El Paso right now, where hundreds of migrant families are being held in the parking lot of a Border Patrol station because there is no room for them inside, or anywhere else.

(34,376 posts)Only bullies do this. Only unfeeling, uncaring assholes do this. This is the attitude that allowed horrors like the "Euthanasia Law," the systematic murdering of the mentally and physically disabled in 1939 Germany. The genocide didn't begin with the Wannsee Conference.
The most upsetting thing for me hasn't been that this orange thing is infesting the White House. Seriously, the most upsetting thing to me is knowing that so many Americans actually voted for him and support him still. We truly are broken.

(5,810 posts)Ill NEVER forget the day he mocked that reporter. I think my jaw dropped and then tears filled my eyes. How could anyone with an ounce of decency do that to another human being so seriously impaired? Then I remembered tRump doesnt have a shred, much less an ounce, of decency in him.
Sadder still is that his base cuddled up to him even closer after that. The Access Hollywood tape sealed their love affair with tRump. If karma is alive and well, theyll all regret their infatuation with the orange monster but not before he has wrecked this country and every other nation he can destroy. He is hell bent on leaving a mark on the world that he was here. And he doesnt care if it is an open gash or gnarly scar. Just as long as he leaves his mark.

(15,536 posts)I replied to another DU'ers comment that said, "This is America. We're better than this." I wrote back, "You know what? Maybe we're not."
This picture backs me up.

(11,094 posts)Lets give him an enthusiastic two-thumbs-up for this one. Maybe tomorrow someone can post the video of him mocking the reporters disability, another big hit in Trump World.

(808 posts)Are there really that many hateful, cruel, and racist people in our country? I know there are a lot of them (at least 30+ percent) who are the diehard Trump supporters, but I really hope that a good portion of them are Russian trolls because to think that we have so many fellow Americans who are such rotten people is really disheartening and depressing (not to mention scary).

(2,690 posts)that seemed to imply that, as long as we're not corralling and murdering these kids, and cremating their remains, we're not so bad. Damn those opinions for the short sighted, ignorant pool of shallow racism that spawns them. The speakers may just be ignorant, but the opinions they express ("This is not the holocaust" by way of mitigating this abomination are loathsome.
Separating children from parents and putting those children in cages, restraining them behind fences, exposing them to the elements, is not just wrong, its evil. The kind of evil that could only be perpetrated by monsters, racists, fascists, and Republicans.
