How long before the GOP refuses to abide by a SCOTUS decision. There example of disrespect for law
and order really set a troubling example for citizens. Refusing to handover materials requested by Congress is a dangers anti-democratic stance to take and to support. The Democrats must get tougher and fight back with every tool in the legal arsenal. It matters if they win or lose but matters more if they don't fight.
Our democratic institutions are being destroyed right before our eyes. And I do not see the pundits on MSNBC or CNN becoming as incensed as the pundits on FOX would be if the Obama administration had denied giving materials to the Oversight Committee. This is a slippery slope the Madam Speaker needs to handle now.

2. Let's not give them ideas; it's been done.
How did President Andrew Jackson get away with defying the Supreme Court's decision to forbid (what came to be known as) The Trail of Tears?
From Wikipedia: "Andrew Jackson did not listen to the Supreme Court mandate barring Georgia from intruding on Cherokee lands." https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/8ibhts/how_did_president_andrew_jackson_get_away_with/ |

4. That's easy
It will be after a Democrat is elected to the WH, then a Democratic majority in the Senate... then a couple SCOTUS justices retire/die and get replaced... then Republican retake the WH and do something stupid (but I repeat myself)... then SCOTUS tells them they can’t do that.
IOW - a very long time from now. |
