I Think I Have Figured Something Out About Joe Biden And The Party

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Rather than overtly trolling us as our enemies, the Russians may well be undercutting us pretending to be our friends. Or at least this side of the political spectrum.

When I go to a different unnamed premier Democratic blog and get swarmed for having the audacity to defend the greatest VP we have ever had, and they are nearly universally supportive of one candidate I go hmm-

But let me be real clear: I STAND BY MY Democratic Party, made up of Democrats, people like me who have done the work, fought the wars, endured the threats, sat in on policy discussions and felt the lows and highs. People who have been Democrats their whole life. Now truly, I think that applies to Bernie-indie or not he has been one of us in platform. And in my heart of hearts I do not believe he or anyone associated with his campaign are behind these accusations. If I am wrong, I will be more than disappointed, I will be for lack of a better term, sad.

I will not apologize for defending Joe. We need Joe. We need humane people in positions of power. The sterile dehumanizing philosophy of a generation of millennials confusing a phone screen for human contact can't be normalized. My message to them is to put your phone down, and initiate an actual human interaction.

The next time you are Twitter trolled by a so-called ally ask them how many pairs of shoes they wore out canvassing. You know who wore out a pair of shoes canvassing? Joe's old boss:

Ask them about phone banking, organizing, voter registration ask them if they have ever done ANYTHING besides run their Twitter mouth and post their hashtags.

Joe Biden hugged me. He high-fived me. He thanked me for my efforts and told me that people like me inspired him. This country needs Joe Biden. I am not sure it deserves him. But it needs him.

But I will not be subjugated by outside interlopers trying to divide this party. Nope not now or ever. We can choose to welcome those of like minds-

But hopefully not at the expense of losing OUR minds.

". The sterile dehumanizing philosophy of a generation of millennials confusing a phone screen for human contact can't be normalized. My message to them is to put your phone down, and initiate an actual human interaction. "

You mean the same ones that helped get Joe's old boos elected by canvassing? The ones who churned up the Blue Wave that gave us the House? It is one thing ton defend Joe, it is another to attack the very same people who helped put Joe in office, and who helped put Pelosi in office.

Too many of these kids, disproportionate to any other generation, are far behind in maturity and social IQ.

It needs to be said. It needs to be addressed. They spend too much time seeking social perfection at the expense of social improvement, to paraphrase the greatest President of my lifetime, Barack Obama. I spend more time defending their over-sensitivity than I do actually going on political offense. They don't recognize allies and they switch allegiances far too easily.

"It needs to be said. It needs to be addressed." Gee, kind of like the way that the previous generations (my generation X included) left them with an economy and ecology which left them deep in debt and with far diminished hopes for a decent life, much less the ones that previous generations enjoyed? Maybe if you were born getting the raw end of a raw deal, you might put your "allies" through a bit more scrutiny.

"Too many of these kids, disproportionate to any other generation, are far behind in maturity and social IQ"

You mean like the Baby Boomer voters that allowed Reagan, Bush 1 , Bush 2, and yes Trump to get elected? If the baby Boomers did not want those men in there, they would not be, because of the sheer numbers.

Be careful that when you step up to the lectern you do not slip on your own slippery faults.

Don't talk to me about a raw deal. I grew up in a trailer park. Poor doesn't describe it and if some of these kids had ever suffered true hardship they would not be hashtag memorializing "feels" and "discomfort."

Not all of course but those I speak of-they don't have a clue. A pro tip-BEWARE of any kid calling themselves a Social Justice Warrior. They WILL find something to be offended about. And they might have a point, but they tend to get lost in molehills.

I know Baby Boomers and Gen-X fucked up. But here is the deal, if you can't laser focus on the proper priorities, and you get offended by everything, you can't fix the big stuff. Pro-tip: hugging equals small thing. Assault equals big thing. Bottom line, they need to learn the definition of the word, "continuum."

They are engaged and smart and I enjoy working with them. They even take advice from the old woman.
I’m tired of the assholish attacks on them.
They are going to have to clean up a colossal mess that happened on our watch and will affect how they live and interact with other countries and will have a hell of a lot less to work with than we ever did.
They are watching their futures line the pockets of greedy old men.
They are paying attention but they are hella good at multitasking.

that issues that people call the far left are in reality the center of America.

We didn't win a blue tsunami by moving to the right, we won by being old fashioned FDR Democrats.

Also, maybe I'm wrong, but is this another Bernie bashing thread?

I get a pension because of my union. Private sector union membership is down to 6%. Why is that? It's because Democrats moved away from the left.
I get Social Security and Medicare because of far left Democrats.

I will be damned if I am told that Democrats need to move right, like say offering up chained CPI to hurt Social Security.
I will be damned if I am told that Democrats need to raise the retirement age, when I retired at 63.
I will be damned if I am told that Democrats need to raise the eligibility age for Medicare, I was able to retire at 63 because my union provided me with health insurance until I hit 65.

We need to move back to the FDR center of America and if Democrats don't like it they can always switch parties.

There is a reason that AOC is the most popular and charismatic Democrat in Congress, she represents the wishes of the majority of the working class. AOC is a shining star who gives me hope about our party and people who bash her because she is friends with Bernie need to get on board it's where the center of America is.

No this is not meant to insult Bernie or his group and the anagram "AOC" is not mentioned.
