I started out today by receiving an ultrasound picture of my future grandchild and the baby's due date. My son, a Marine veteran, struggled for ten years to get his life back on track from the Iraq War, and my husband and I thought that he would live with us for the rest of our lives or if he would make it that far, as there were many times he wanted to give up. After lots of treatment from the VA and lots of help from us, he is now happily married, employed, a home-owner, and a soon-to-be father (due date in November). We can't wait to see the baby.
Within an hour of getting the picture of the baby-to-come, my sister called. Her middle daughter and husband had been trying to have another baby. When they couldn't conceive, they went to the doctor for answers. She has now been diagnosed with endometrial cancer and will have surgery on Friday. My sister is flying back East to be with her daughter and to help with their 3 young children. There will not be another baby for them, but we are so worried about what might happen now. We are hoping that the cancer has not spread. My mother died of ovarian cancer, my grandmother had breast cancer, and my great-grandmother died from uterine cancer. I sure hope that medicine has come a long way since losing my mother in 1977 who never lived to see any of her grandchildren. Please keep this young family in your thoughts, (Trump has certainly ruined the term "thoughts and prayers" for me.) as they need as much positive energy directed their way.

Hoping for a safe delivery for the new grandchild as well.

(261 posts)Hopefully, they can determine quickly as to whether the cancer has spread. Since she had no symptoms, we are hoping the cancer was in its early stages.
