I see several French billionaires are pledging over 450 million to repair Notre Dame. I know its not the same, the US doesnt have ancient cultural structures but certainly the WTC buildings were significant. But my point is not only did he not offer or do anything to help he managed to profit off the events of 9/11. Im wondering if hell make some asinine comment about those billionaires offering financial help for rebuilding the cathedral. Probably insinuate how helpful hed been or somehow try to paint the fire as a terrorist attack.

(12,265 posts)There were a few big donors, but the majority of the donors were regular Americans. Billionaires get to be billionaires because they don't share their money generally. This guy doesn't have any money to spare is my guess. He lives, bankruptcy to bankruptcy, loan to loan.

(31,515 posts)The fund was supposed to cover uninsured losses for small businesses, but Trump somehow received $150,000 in taxpayer money; his application cited rent loss, cleanup and repair. Yet none of Trumps properties were actually damaged in the attack.
Trump later claimed it was a reimbursement for his charitable efforts. It was probably a reimbursement for the fact that I allowed people, for many months, to stay in the building (40 Wall Street), use the building and store things in the building, he said.
But not only does that contradict his application, but the fund was not supposed to reimburse anyone for pitching in. Which, by the way, theres no evidence Trump actually did.

A lot of corporations split thier workforrces into smaller groups
under a different name and are able to claim them as a small business.
