(9,481 posts)The whole Foxconn thing just reeks of deep pocket foreign interests funneling money in. Now apparently the CEO of Foxconn stepped down so he can run for president of Taiwan so he can secure his business interests in China.

(22,154 posts)economy and has still yet to be built. Perhaps they are building this plant to get around sanctions. Also, the alum. market is somewhat in turmoil, due to sanctions. Russia itself is one of the world's leading producers of alum., along w/ Canada, China, and the US.

Being that the four top markets are the US, Russia, China, and Canada, I don't really see the benefits of this going so far to induce the lifting of sanctions (one plant, out of thousands of new business ventures that happens each and every month.
