We have 19 months. It is too early because the Senate will acquit. Stepped up investigations will do more damage.

(108,977 posts)while not drawing accusations that we were jumping the gun. Have preliminary hearings on the report and after the public understands what's in it, then start formal impeachment hearings.

(14,966 posts)hearing and other related investigations and public hearings need to be game-planned with that in mind. He will blow through it lightning-quick with a no vote, or he will fail to proceed to a vote before the election, or perhaps something in between. Whatever it is, we must proceed with maximum political f*ckery by McConnell in mind.
Whether or not to make *removal* a campaign issue is the real question I think. If so, obviously then they must impeach -- at the correct time for that effect, keeping in mind McConnell's potential manipulations. If they impeach, they must have made an overwhelming case, in public hearings, before the impeachment proceedings even begin. They better be making decisions and drawing up schedules.
