We've all seen parents of rude disruptive children who try to enforce discipline with a

constant barrage of threats. "Stop kicking that man's seat or you're really gonna be sorry!" "Don't scream again or I'll have to spank you!" But, everyone, including the little monster, knows that the threats are empty; meaningless; never gonna happen.

If we don't find a way to make those who defy our subpoenas regret their defiance, we'll be like the parents of the unruly brat: irrelevant noise.

Monday AM start sending those who refuse to testify to jail, skip threats of fines. Do it with one on Monday, if others refuse to testify lock them up ASAP too. I am sick of this shit. We can legislate, run campaigns and hold hearings and investigations at the same time.

where ever we were and went home. After doing that 2/3 times, they learned that after the first "threat" they need to behave or else it was go home time.

My sister and I knew that our parents did not threaten. They had rules (the typical ones parents have) and if we broke them we got a spanking. After one spanking we knew they meant business. And yes, they were not afraid of hitting us in public and we knew it. Therefore, we were VERY well behaved kids who only needed to be spanked once to know who the boss was. If this were done today they probably would get a visit from Mr. CPS. That is how we should handle the moron....a very humiliating public "spanking" by a strong Congress.

I will say that there were times when we were in a restaurant and one of our sons misbehaved in a way that was disruptive to others, one of us took the kid outside and stayed there with him so the other could finish the meal.

Making it clear to young children what is not acceptable behavior is crucial. And that applies to adults as well.
