The time to complain about the inability to fight the Republicans was in 2014 when we let the Senate flip back to the Republicans because not enough Democrats thought it was important to fight to keep a Democratic majority in the Senate.

One of the reasons the Democrats need to build a public case for impeachment before launching it - the only way any Republican will support impeachment will be if their constituents pressure them to.

in a time when we need it desperately. Perez ..no power no audience? No savvy?, Schumer and Pelosi, guess not their place, they only know/responsible for their world and counting votes.

We are 10 months away from a nominee.

Only leader I can even think of is Obama. And times like this, I wish he wasn’t so unassuming. He and Clinton’s !!

I think I came to the conclusion it had to be the private sector. Steyer, Hollywood money makers, nyc ad men, experts in campaign strategy, and IT experts ( to protect 2020 vote). Go off for a retreat and figure out how to defeat this MF.

The media is focused on Trump 24/7 They can hire the best experts in the world, but if the media is all running after Trump to cover the latest scandal or outrageous statement or tweet, will anybody know?

Republicans have spent over 40 years building up a right wing media empire - Fox News, One America, Sinclair Broadcasting on TV; Rush Limbaugh and a horde of national and local RW radio hosts; and, other than a few notable exceptions, they control most of the country's newspapers, especially the smaller local/regional newspapers. Democrats have MSNBC and late nights on Comedy Central.

You do know that Michael Bloomberg is spending millions building a high tech GOTV database for Democrats, right? He's not just donating big money to anti-NRA groups.

And, Tom Steyer is spending millions to help register voters and create grassroots GOTV operations, right? He's not just running ads urging impeachment.

Until Democrats can get a dynamic candidate that can steal attention away from Trump, he will continue to dominate the news cycle and drown out everything else.

can't 'we' use trump's visibility against him?

That is more my point...like yesterday's reports of his losing billions, etc etc... the list, ever here on DU about his failed businesses, his lies, his being blackmailed, is attempt to become a dictator, his basic human depravity, and republicans' supporting this and doing nothing...

54. That's the point though. You've got two worlds
Wed May 8, 2019, 10:15 AM
May 2019

The informed and the not informed. If the other side could figure out how to brainwash their side, then surely our best and brightest in the political, advertising, and IT worlds could work together to inform the uninformed.

I watched Beto rising in TX only to see an orchestrated Facebook smear spread like wildfire in the low info community. Then Beto plateaued. This technique will be used in 2020. Hell, trump has already spent millions in Facebook ads in Texas already! Why not buy the SAME list he did? Staff a rapid response team to immediately push a counter ad to the same recipients with the truth?

Trump will brag about his regulation cutting. There is likely a treasure trove of horrors there. Create an ad of kids swimming in a lake. "President trump cut the regulation that protects the water in US lakes. Do you want your kids swimming there?". Short and simple.

My point...there's lots we can do until our candidate emerges. But we need someone to pull the team together.

Chris asked point blank: Has trump violated his oath of office? I think Schumer said yes, but not sure because it wasn't a simple yes or no.

If you think he's a con, stop waltzing over to the WH to discuss infrastructure bills. You know trump is an ass and has no intention of giving you a win. It's so odd how they misremember history with regard to Clinton--repubs passed a bunch of bills which CLINTON got credit for, not rethugs. If democrats help pass a major infrastructure bill, DUMP will get the credit. Meanwhile, the rethugs benefited from impeaching Clinton. They held on to both houses and won the presidency in 2000.

on the same day the press and people were engaged and watching was the biggest mistake our leadership made. The second was Schumer and Pelosi going to the WH on infrastructure and treating him with honor and respect. They did two things 1) legitimized him and 2) took away the one thing we had...his love of debt. All he has to do when debt raised in debate is say "they agreed!"
