to tell it face to face! I think that took guts.
Some other so called 'journalists' need to step up like Chris did.
So, thank you Chris Matthews, I have a little more hope today than I did yesterday!

That was a total and absolute recrimination of a disgusting and appalling tactic by their party. And the people clapped!

This is what I wrote and sent to him on the link you provided.
"Dear Mr Matthews; I was very inspired by your courage yesterday when you stood up to Reince Priebus, though, sadly, you stood alone. More journalists need to step up like you did and tell the truth. This country, our country, is at stake here and I applaud you for having the moral fiber to do what everyone who has a voice and a platform from which to use it should be doing. You were very inspiring and some of your colleagues need to find their voices to step up like you did. I totally encourage you to continue speaking truth to power. Bravo! "
So thanks again for the link

(20,450 posts)Long, but oh well. I had to get a few things off my chest!
Chris,
Your exchange with Reince Priebus Sunday was nothing short of brilliant. I have never witnessed such hatred coming from the Republican Party in my lifetime. Tom Brokaw is wrong! This mainstream media meme that "both sides do it" is wrong! I don't remember any Democrat calling for the overthrow of government should a Republican win. I've never heard anything from a Democrat accusing a Republican president of being foreign-born, demanding college transcripts and birth certificates, calling him a terrorist, threatening armed insurrection. I've never heard Democrats going after 14th Amendment citizenship rights, attempting to thwart voting rights, questioning religious beliefts and love of this great country just because the president is a Republican. For if we did hear anything like this coming from the Democratic Party, rest assured that they were dealt with swiftly by the Republicans and the so-called "liberal media." You and I both know this!
Chris, you were right! The rhetoric coming from the right is about race!! The Southern Strategy has been a hallmark of the Republican electoral platform for decades now. It is about divisiveness; it is about fomenting fear and hatred among whites who are led to believe that black people are getting something that belongs to them! Newt Gingrich called the president 'The Foodstamp President'. Donald Trump told the president to get off the basketball court and show us your transcripts! Rick Santorum doesn't want to make "blah people's lives better" by giving them other people's money! These words don't amount to simply coincidence! This is racial rhetoric! This is pure hatred! This is what the Southern Strategy was all about.
You once begged Mike Steele to call the Republicans out on the race rheotic. Tell the Republicans to stop the hate! And tell your colleagues in the mainstream media to start doing their jobs and calling out the hate when it happens!
Thank you again for your honesty, forthrightness and moral rectitude.
