Amid complaints from liberal and progressive groups, five corporations have dropped their support for the right-wing policy group called the American Legislative Exchange Council.
General Electric, The Western Union Company, Sprint Nextel Corporation, Symantec Corporation, and Reckitt Benckiser Group all told Color Of Change that they no longer supported ALEC.
These significant developments, coupled with recent withdrawals from ALEC by companies like Walgreens and GM, further prove that everyday people working together to hold corporations accountable can achieve tremendous change, said ColorOfChange.org Executive Director Rashad Robinson.
ColorOfChange celebrates these corporations who have withdrawn their funding from ALEC, which continues to defend its push to enact discriminatory voter ID laws across the nation.

(81,557 posts)Changed names, stationery, and tactics, gone underground, but it's the same operatives and same heinous agenda. Maybe it's just giving these companies cover so they can look good while they follow whatever ALEC has morphed into while nobody's looking anymore.
Dammit, remember what Mad-Eye Moody warned Harry Potter: "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!" Dems lost ground for three decades by not staying awake, aware, and militant. I'm amazed at how many times I've now read some version of the phrases: "isn't this the 21st Century?" and " name of group or voting block here) went on the premise that these arguments were settled long ago!" and "but I thought this was settled! WHY are we still fighting about this?" If I had a dollar for every time I've heard or read versions of those quips, I could be Barack Obama's koch sister.
