I think this is an excellent way to proceed. It would heat things up
quite a bit while staying away from the Trump impeachment debate.

(2,787 posts)impeaching 2 at the same time would be pretty bold. No reason not impeach Trump if we are going to impeach his cabinet.

(2,787 posts)I thinking impeaching his cabinet members first could back fire on us.

(15,751 posts)pecking order for information/roadmaps/sworn statements. Then comes the quickly expedient types like Flynn who get the early bird good deals. Then comes the bigger fish like Manafort who are so hemmed in by clear facts and records, that an adverse judge and juror can't keep them from being convicted. On deck to go against trump; are his family biz accountant, and a separate big accounting firm; Mueller's sworn indictment ready case preps, etc., etc.
Also, at the publcly known level, is yesterday's revelation of top Cabinet positions for sale, as in the $6 mil 'loan' to Manafort. Some point the missing Inauguration milllions, etc.
So trump thinks he is clever in using 'coded' language, but with the above roll-up underway, the case against trump can be so overwhelming - and so widely publicized that even fox is starting to cover it.
[Psst. The cognoscienti like the Speaker, Mueller, Committee Chairs, know all this. The green crowd, still in their salad days and green in judgement, don't quite get enough of it].

(6,110 posts)Manafort & Cohen were prosecuted for crimes by prosecutor Mueller.
Impeachment is done in the House of Reps by elected congress critters, and not by a head prosecutor in charge.

What the House Committees are doing is investigating, and will deliver a report for the consideration one Committee, and then submit to the whole House.
Similar procedures, all aimed at Individual 1.

(2,787 posts)in a short 18 month window. What time will left to impeach Trump after we spend months and months impeaching Barr followed by months and months impeaching Mnuchin.

(2,787 posts)with the exception of cabinet members with big names like Hilary Clinton or John Kerry. Btw the one cabinet member that was impeached he got off too.

(2,787 posts)that strategy would run the risk of making us look like we are scared to impeach Trump. People might start thinking they don't think they can get Trump so they are going after his cabinet members never mind the fact the senate is not much more likely to remove them than they are Trump. However I do think they all should be impeached, but Trump should be impeached first.

(2,787 posts)it will ensure Trump is never impeached. There is only 18 months until the election I don't think there is time for experiments like this.

(111,111 posts)That this may be the most important vote in their lifetimes?
I cannot understand the argument that more Republicans will vote for him if he is impeached? Or less Democrats will go to the polls?
What information could they possibly receive in an impeachment procedure that would cause them to flock to the Trump camp, if they were not already there?
standingtall
(2,787 posts)unless we do something that makes us look weak on impeaching him. Like impeaching 2 of his cabinet members before him. Which will be processes themselves by the time we finish those there may not even be time left to impeach Trump. Trump should be impeached so should Barr and Mnuchin, but I think Trump should be impeached first or at least they should all be impeached simultaneously.

(23,002 posts)Barr throwing himself in there w Manuchin to take the impeachment heat, while trump continues to claim exoneration, and gets help from russia again to win in 20202. Exactly ZERO has been done to stop the cyber hacking again. If it had been dealt with, other nations would be able to fend of russias interference too.
Seems other countries in Europe, especially England, are still wide open too.
Where's our cyber counter intel folks? Why haven't they locked up our systems? Where's Silicon Valley trying to pitch in on this endeavor? Just wondering.
ps...Is Edward Snowden assisting the russians w information he stole from the US Govt vis his contracting job? Sure seems likely.
