CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said President Trumps base is comprised primarily of middle aged angry white males.
His comment came amid a discussion he had on Twitter on the topic of the presidents potential impeachment.
In his first tweet, Cuomo commented on an article from Raw Story about a suggestion from MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch on how to change the conversation around impeachment to focus more on Trump criminal investigations.
We are going to initiate and continue the ongoing Trump criminal investigations Trump criminal, Trump criminal investigations, Deutsch said. Take the word impeachment away its a losing word, its a 30-year-old word that does not help us. Change the discussion. Even Trump says its a disgusting word. Its a disgusting word for Democrats.

(507 posts)Every single one of my Elderly (80+) Parents and their friend are tried and true Rethuglicans, and because of such, dumpers as well. They see that Hairplug Himmler can do no wrong! Of course, with the advent of Fux Noise for my Dad and Facebook for my Mom, who both spend WAY too much time watching or surfing, I can barely get a word to the wise to either.
Spending the Summer with them, either we'll be clearing out a house, or on the Skyline Drive in Northern Virginia enjoying the fresh mountain air. Either way, I'll have them away from their vices as much as I humanly can.

(13,180 posts)Are they bad because they are middle-aged, white, or male or does each of those categories implicitly (somehow) make them cumulatively worse? Now, if Cuomo had said they were anti-youth and resentful of the loss of exclusive power by whites and men, he would have been on solid ethical ground. Failing that, he wasn't.

(39,374 posts)Even single women? Unmarried single parents? Women who choose cohabitatation over marriage? Trumps economic nostalgia scam resonated with a lot of white working class women. The good news is we can make inroads and reduce our margins of defeat with them in 2020 with a stronger economic message than our candidate was able to communicate in 2016. Pretending they are feminist haters who were just going along with their angry white daddies isnt going to do it for us.
Heres a very good article on what actually happened with white women voters in 2016, if you want to add some nuance to your thinking (Im not holding my breath):

It's a tough nut to crack. There's a variety of feedback loops that kept this going for generations.

(29,322 posts)He may be right about Trump's base they largely are white male but don't forget conservative women but Cuomo has problems of his own.
Cuomo has blamed both sides when the MAGAbomber was in the news, said that Reza Aslan's "tone" is an example of why people are fearful of Islam and the Kamala birthism. He also grilled a basketball dad over whether he thanked Trump. That is off the top of my head.
Chris Cuomo Blames Kamala Harris For Not Addressing Racist 'Birther' Hoax
He later deleted the tweet and said his comment was misinterpreted
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo came under fire Tuesday when he seemed to suggest in a since-deleted tweet that theres no proof of where Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was born and that the onus is on her to prove right-wing birther conspiracists wrong in their claims shes not eligible to run for president.
He weighed in after CNN contributor Ana Navarro slammed a far-right conspiracy theorist for falsely insisting that Harris who was born in Oakland, California, and announced her candidacy for the Democratic ticket on Monday could not legally be president because her parents had lived in the U.S. for less than five years before having her.
The longer there is no proof either way, the deeper the effect, Cuomo wrote after saying, hopefully ... the legit info [about] Harris comes out to deal with the allegation ASAP.
