Zandi on the economy?

I've heard his name, am not sure about his track record or bias. Yesterday, on Smerconish he claimed that were the elections took place now, Whiny Donny would win by a landslide thanks to the economy. Smerconish was stunned. Kept on asking and Zandi only insisted on "now" but was pretty certain about next year.

I have no idea why he - and others - say so. Many saw how the "tax reform" increased their taxes. Many farmers see the damage that he has done. With tariffs right and left, consumers will be hurt. Perhaps even more so as the effects "trickle down" to everyone pockets.

And, of course, investors blame, or should blame these games so where is Zandi coming from?
