It is clear Trump is going to try and stop anybody from testifying in open hearings. That is not acceptable. The only possible chance we have to remove Trump is to get all the liars in open hearings and let the people see with their own eyes the corruption. That is the only way to change public opinion. Changing public opinion is the only possible way to get the Republicans in the Senate to convict. That's a fact.
Starting the impeachment process gives the Democrats more power to get people to answer subpoenas. If Trump keeps stopping people from testifying the Democrats are going to get more and more pressure from their voters to impeach. The pressure is building now.
If the Democrats let Trump stop everyone from testifying he wins and our country will be changed forever. What Trump is doing is a crime . It is more obstruction of justice. It will become precedent. That cannot be allowed to happen.
The Democrats have to force people to testify at all cost. Our entire democracy depends on it.
Pelosi wants to investigate and build a case. I agree with that, however it is impossible to do a proper investigation without all the criminals testifying. She may forced to do something more drastic.

Yes , so what Democrats are doing now is already getting the attention of Americans, thus we dont need to prematurely start the process and should wait until Pelosi and Schiff decide the time is right.

(6,390 posts)Yes, he wants to push the impeachment proceedings, fast and hard. The Senate won't convict and he can claim exoneration and presidential harassment. This has been his whole game plan, he probably started planning since Mueller was appointed Independent Counsel. Like filing bankruptcy that clears all your debts right before you receive a huge inheritance.
And the "No" part....he doesn't want the investigations to drag on. It will be his Achilles heel and being mired in corruption in the middle of an election and probable recession is a sure fire method to lose. Pence may not pardon him for the chance to be a president for a few months, he's going to want a longer time....and Trump is too proud to give it to him.
