"SNIP.....
British Labour Party politician Andrew Adonis, a member of Parliament, on Tuesday asserted that President Donald Trump likely killed off the Brexit plan to split Britain from the European Union.
At a press conference with British Prime Minister Teresa May, Trump declared that the United Kingdoms National Health Service is on the table as Brexit negotiations continue.
Trumps remarks came after U.S. ambassador to the U.K. Woody Johnson told BBC that the Trump administration would like to see U.S. corporations making money off of British national health care.
Trump literally said in his press conference that the NHS is on the table in a trade deal with the U.S., Adonis wrote on Twitter.

(3,631 posts)...they were "serious" about a US trade agreement. I can't see that flying with the UK public.

Hope the Brits tell him to kiss their ass.

Britain is almost surely destined to go crawling back to the EU, or praying that Trump is defeated in 2020 and they can then deal with a sane USA leader.

(1,007 posts)one statement: "NHS is on the table" meaning the scheme is to privatize their NHS and put in the hands of US health insurers.

(4,149 posts)saying he thinks Britain needs to go to an insurance based system like the US. Of course, he couched it as getting the government out of people's healthcare decisions. I just hope that there aren't enough gullible people in the country to believe it.

(15,535 posts)into voting FOR Brexit because they were told that the money the country would no longer have to use to stay in the EU could be used to improved the NHS. Threaten the NHS and it is possible that public pressure could halt the exit.
People do disappoint when they cant think any further than a slogan or one consequence that sounds good for them in the short run. Still they were lied to consistently and effectively.
The day after Brexit passed one of the leaders was asked about using the funds for NHS and he immediately replied that no one had any intentions of doing anything like that.
