2016 Portman 58% vs Ted Strickland 37%
2010 Portman 57% vs Fisher 39%
Why is Portman so popular in Ohio?

(33,047 posts)They cheerfully will invest multiple millions in Portmans' campaigns. His base is more southern Ohio, Cincinnati area, strong family roots.
Ryan isn't an especially popular member of the Ohio Dem party, his district is the one that the ApricotHellbeast turned red purple in northeast Ohio & his district is the one that the GOP will eliminate after the next census.
I strongly suspect he's running to get a post cong rep TV pundit career or thinktank job

Gym Jordan is the one who better worry. His pretending he knew nothing about sex abuse for 7 years has not gone away.

(516 posts)I am irked with the Senate makeup of GOP +3.
A Hagan win, a Nelson win and maybe a pickup in OH or PA and there is no Kavanaugh.

The motherfucker in cheat won this state by a greater margin than DUBYA did. We're now as deep red as TEXAS is.
Serial Dubya Rubberstamp Mike Dewine, a 71-year-old uninspiring fossil of a pro-lifer, was our Senator, Attorney General and now our governor. He's also the reason 11 year olds are going to be forced to have rape babies. He beat out Rich Cordray, a non-aggressive Dem who was a top consumer financial watchdog. Dewine's campaign attacked him until the cows came home with half-truths and outright falsehoods. This is a technique that for some reason always works for Republicans but never for Democrats.
Sherrod Brown, an unabashedly pro-worker and pro-union progressive, BARELY won re-election over borderline criminal with mob ties Jim Renacci, who wasn't even liked by his own party.
This state is Columbus, Cleveland and parts of Cincinnati surrounded by The Red Sea. Horribly religion-poisoned and churchy, very anti-choice, incredibly racist and identifies wholeheartedly with the wealthy that stomp them.

Yeah I wish he'd done better.
"This state is Columbus, Cleveland and parts of Cincinnati surrounded by The Red Sea" is true IMO

(24,461 posts)It makes almost as little sense as supposedly pro-union West Virginia not delivering ONE blue county in 2016.
It proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Republican voters are all about recognizable BRANDS. Why else would they nominate and elect a labor-welching and massively corrupt CEO if they didn't recognize his name?

(42,770 posts)maybe we just are exposed to more info. In TX, I think the key is "just don't be trump" meaning be decent and act with dignity. On the flip side, tons of low infos, if they have a job, and their families do too, boom, don't care about anything else.
What do you think about Ryan? He's short on $$, A VP?
Did you see this on Ohio voters?

but in the other hand Georgia, north Carolina, and Texas are moving towards Democrats with more minorities moving in and getting involved in the voting process.

(14,119 posts)even young white voters in Georgia and Texas are voting more Democratic than before. I could be wrong.
