Start the inquiry yesterday. The legal basis is clear. If it’s politics you’re worried about, we’ve lost our enthusiasm edge and most people now think Trump will be re-elected. Slow-walking is a political bust.

We can't even get consistent court enforcement of oversight angles, but, she thinks he'll go to prison? Come on Sister Nancy.
If tht's the hold up, then I'm PRitty sure there's at least TWO crimes there. Impeach him, AND send him to prison. Not mutually exclusive. The guy shits misdemeanors in the morning, and willingly commits felonies the rest of the day.

This is the first time I’ve heard Pelosi say something that rings so false. I’ve been strongly supporting her, but this is insulting.

If he's not impeached, it will send the signal that Trump wasn't bad enough to waste time impeaching.

I'm really losing patience with Pelosi.

Or impeaching him at time X instead of later at time Y will do so. Whether or not that determination is correct, it is hardly a fringe one.

Being in the right and yet out of power is worthless and self-defeating when the other side of the binary choice is Republicans/Trump. So winning matters more than being righteous or morally/idealistically pure.

I do not know for certain that Pelosi has a coherent strategy (though I suspect she does), nor that it is correct (on that question I'm undecided). But I have yet to see persuasive evidence that her behaving differently improves/optimizes the likelihood of getting rid of Trump.

To the extent possible, act like he doesn't exist. That's the worst thing you can do to a narcissist. Worse than impeachment. Impeachment gives him the attention he craves, and he will thrive on it. Ignore him and he will hang himself.

Totally counterintuitive and hard to do, but that's only because a narcissistic doesn't think or act like a normal person. That's why Pelosi is the toughest, smartest person in Washington.

It can be done. As it reveals corruption and crimes to the general public, the election will go accordingly.

We'll see. But as soon as the next president is sworn in, Trump can be charged and arrested no matter how many Secret Service are nearby.

Start the impeachment inquiry now and string it along until after the election. That way, Chump can't claim victory from a non vote by the Senate. The American people need to hear everything from now until then, and a lot can come out!

Impeachment is all about Trump. Which is what he wants and his chosen playing field. What Trump doesn't want is discussions of real policy, national values or his lack of accomplishments.

Impeachment makes the conversation about "Donald's a criminal," and "Nancy is a meany." Reduces serious issue to schoolyard taunts and nothing else. You'd think this wouldn't work, but many narcissists achieve great success this way. Chalk it up to our stupid chattering monkey brains.

The House has passed something like 100 bills that languish in the Senate while Trump insults British princesses. Let Trump continue his childish games while Democrats talk to America like adults. That's her plan.

to begin to impeach (at Mueller report release) when everyone in the world was watching and wondering what the nonpartisan guy who spent two years investigating said ..that we are now in a dry spell.

All that aside, we are now in the "get more crimes" stage. Get docs, get witnesses, etc. Yet not easy since trump stonewalling and not allowing people to talk nor docs released. Maybe courts will rule with us and we can get this show started !!

She's not making a lot of sense to me. Do your constitutional duty and start the impeachment inquiry soon. It will certainly fail in the Senate, but that isn't any kind of criminal exoneration. All of Trump's known corruption will be laid out together in the most public way possible. Senate Republicans will be seen showing complete disregard for our Constitution and rule of law. Win the election, then prosecute Trump for his crimes.

Right now the party is looking weak, people are thinking Trump will win, and the GOP is gearing up for another public witch hunt led by AG Barr.

...we've had VP's do time. But never a sitting president.

She's out for blood...and blood to make any one else think twice about running for office if they are corrupt. I think she is right, impeachment is a political theatrics....and something Trump benefits from. Being thrown out of office with no pardon on the other hand... and given his age, could result in his last years inside walls.

would be to cause a groundswell. Unless we could actually prove more crimes over and above the clear obstruction that Mueller outlined. It will eventually happen but probably a long way down the road? With all the stonewalling.

Regardless whether he is impeached, which will humiliate, more so than have any impact on removal, doesn't the SDNY have reason to indict him as well? I agree, I want him and all of his cabal in prison. Some are already there. The pressure on Pelosi must be tremendous. However, people are angry and they want justice.
