If there was a vote in the House for an impeachment inquiry..?

would it pass or fail?

If Nancy was against it, I could not see it passing?

The question of whether or not to impeach is becoming very divisive for Democrats, in my opinion.

How much more do they need to see? How many more subpoenas do they need to have rejected? How many more contempt of Congress charges do they need? How many more crimes need to be committed?

Do they really want to put this on the back burner until after the election??

It will be Nancy Pelosi's decision.

Why would it fail miserably? kentuck Jun 2019 #3
Because so far, she only has about 60 sure votes in favor EffieBlack Jun 2019 #4
But a couple of weeks ago, she had only half that number StarfishSaver Jun 2019 #6

...for the health and well-being of the Republic. I don't see it as optional at this point.

She's not bringing it to the floor because it doesn't have enough votes. It's not true that if she supports it everyone will get behind it - if that were the case, she'd never have to gauge if and when to bring anything to a vote since she could guarantee passage of any bill she wanted just by announcing her support and opening it to a vote.

She wishes.

Even if that number were to triple (which isn't likely at all), she'd be way short of the 218 votes she needs for passage.

And few things would be worse for the Democrats and any prospect for impeachment than for a vote to open an impeachment inquiry to fail overwhelmingly.

There's a reason Speakers don't bring measures to the floor before they have the votes needed to pass them.

Can you imagine how awesome it would be if Pelosi could guarantee her Caucus would support a bill just because she does?

Among other things, Obamacare would have passed in January 2009 and not have taken nearly a year and half to get approved (and a year and a half to get mischaracterized and form the basis of the Tea Party).

Impeachment is a big question mark, but an outline of the case against an ex-President Trump is already taking shape.

NOTHING is more important than rescuing our nation from RW fascism while our vote still has power. Everything is about 2020. We impeach if it doesn't help them and Trump himself.
