'Con man, crook, draft dodger, racist'--actual words House Republicans want to ban in Trump hearing

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/6/7/1863356/--Con-man-crook-draft-dodger-racist-actual-words-House-Republicans-want-to-ban-in-Trump-hearing

You might be tempted to think what you are about to read is a joke, but I can assure you it is not. On Monday, June 10, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the Mueller report. Ahead of that committee hearing, which is sure to dominate news coverage next week, Republican Rep. Doug Collins, a ranking member of the committee, has sent a letter to its chairman, Jerry Nadler, citing the manual of decorum, with a list of words he wants Chairman Nadler to ban members from using about Donald Trump during the hearing.

It’s quite an incredible list, really. Rep. Collins has quite accurately nailed Trump’s character with these descriptors.

Cowardly
Infantile
Bilking the taxpayer
Delusional
Hypocritical
Liar
Amoral
Lining the pockets of his cronies
Draft-dodger
Crook
Conman
Engaged in illegal activity
Crook
Racist
Bigot
Misogynist
Un-American
Giving aid and comfort to the enemy
Spying
Abusing power
Abusing Executive Privilege
Demagogue
Disrespected the office

Can you believe these sensitive snowflakes? Collins may have House precedent and rules of decorum on his side, but as Politico reporter Kyle Cheney noted, these rules of decorum do not apply to impeachment hearings. If Democrats want to get specific and call out the alleged crimes and offenses committed by Donald Trump, they will have to open impeachment hearings on the cowardly, infantile, bilking-the-taxpayer, delusional, hypocritical, liar, amoral, lining-the-pockets-of-his-cronies, draft-dodging, crook, conman, racist, bigot, misogynistic, un-American, spying, power-abusing demagogue who disrespects the office of the presidency every day he is in it.

Actually, the committee should vote on each term separately to decide whether it should be prohibited. That would be an interesting hearing. Each Democrat would make a statement about why a specific term, eg., "con man," should be allowed, and then a Republican would have to argue why the term should not be used. Then the committee votes on the term (Democrats win) and moves on to the next term. This would put the Republicans in the position of explaining just why a specific term should not be used in describing Trump, as well as highlighting Fat Donnie's character defects.

the election "irregularities" was relegated to the basement of the House, funding was cut and to my knowledge no actual investigation of voting machine (Diebold, etc.) hacking, "hanging chad" interpretation, re-count disruptors bussed from DC to FL (Bolton, Stone, et al) or or anything meaningful was conducted. The committee got nowhere and was terminated. If history is any indicator, we are in deep @#$, due to total GOP complicity and obstruction of democracy. Kushner just actively articulated seeking continuation of Russian help in the next election in the recent Axios interview.

"All right, first one coward. You may not refer to Donald Trump's inherent cowardice, nor call him a coward. Also liar - even if Donald Trump lies outright, you are not to acknowledge any of his lies, no matter how numerous, so as not to brush our president's feelings the wrong way. Let's move onto engaged in illegal activity; the Republicans would appreciate we don't refer to any of Donald J. Trump's extensive list of illegal activities as "illegal". This includes calling him an amoral crook and conman. Again, do not point out Trump is a crook or a conman who is engaged in illegal activity under any circumstances. Also, don't call him a racist - referring to Donald Trump's extremely obvious racism - put that right out of your minds."

"Do I need to put these up on a screen somewhere? It needs to stay up for the whole proceeding so we can refer to it and not accidentally say one of the things the Republicans would like us not to mention. Someone bring me a whiteboard, please? No, a bigger one. Actually, bring two, you know the kind with two sides we can flip over from time to time."

If we can't agree to hold a hearing with the normal procedure, because we cave to extreme demands, then we certainly will have trouble when the going gets tough.

If it's in the Mueller Report, it's okay to say it. Mueller may quote some people that use those words. I don't think most reps will call Trump names. That's what Trump does. But if they ask questions about whether a statement means that Trump was "abusing power" or that he "disrespected the office," that's fair and within bounds. "Abusing power" IS part of the crime of obstructing justice.

Read it in, have a few chuckles and maybe even take a little vote then put it aside with a head shake and a sigh and announce the meeting will begin about the Liar In Chief Donald Trump etc. etc. etc. using as many of those names as possible....or not. The head shake and sigh should be enough.

There's an OLD joke about the days of the Czar in Russia. After a particularly harsh set of laws were imposed, three poor tailors in a tiny Ukrainian town were complaining to each other at a local inn about the Czar. One says "He's a thief and a swindler!" Another says "He's an idiot, a nitwit!" The third says "He guzzles vodka lie a swine!" The local gendarme appears and promptly arrests them and brings them before the commissioner of police. The commissioner shrieks "How dare you insult out beloved Czar!" But the three frightened tailors told him that they were not talking about the Czar - they were complaining about the Inkeeper. Then the commissioner says, "How was the gendarme to know? When he heard 'idiot', 'thief' and 'swine', naturally he thought you were talking about the Czar".

This would bring way more attention to the words than if Collins had just kept his mouth shut.

Another Democrat could request to enter into the record those words not included in the list which make them fair game.

It is all about playing the game better than the Rethugs.

After all, if they can call liberals and all kinds of derivatives of this word, we can call them what we want too. After all, the so called president called one the wife of Britain's ruling family 'nasty'...until the POS apologizes for each and every single slur he's uttered, call him every name in the book! He's earned it.

There would have been no such list about President Obama.

Someone should print up BINGO cards with one of these expressions in every square and we watch C-Span of the House of Representatives and compete to see which sequence fills out a line first.

Every day's session a new game.

Someone else could keep track of the sequence in which these expression are first said in the House each day.for those of us who cannot watch TV in the daytime.

A no booze county. BUT there was a workaround. When you went to a bar they only sold the mixes i.e coke, ginger ale, water, club soda, etc. You could brown back your booze and check it in with the house. They would issue you a number.

So your bottle of rum might be 23. Your vodka 19. You get the idea.
So you would order 23 & coke or 19 & club soda. You get the idea.

Considering most questions in these hearings are read from prepared statements.

So here is the brown bag version of Collin's list

#0 Trump, president etc.
#1 Cowardly
#2 Infantile
#3 Bilking the taxpayer
#4 Delusional
#5 Hypocritical
#6 Liar
#7 Amoral
#8 Lining the pockets of his cronies
#9 Draft-dodger
#10 Crook
#11 Conman
#12 Engaged in illegal activity
#13 Crook
#14 Racist
#15 Bigot
#16 Misogynist
#17 Un-American
#18 Giving aid and comfort to the enemy
#19 Spying
#20 Abusing power
#21 Abusing Executive Privilege
#22 Demagogue
#23 Disrespected the office

Each prepared statement is broadcast to provide a key.

So.. Isn't it true that your boss #0 is a #6 and a #14, and a #20 and of course totally #21. Answer Yes or No!

Well, you get the point. I went home many a night mostly drunk on #19 and club soda. Never having said the word alcohol. I was never sure why I had a hangover.

Sat Jun 8, 2019, 03:57 PM

For some of the Democrats used to the perpetual bending backwards strategy, combined with extreme PCism so as not to offend the frailest of the frail, I would not be surprised if they accepted this. Which won't make one iota of difference in the words the Republicans and Trump will be calling Democrats for even daring to start impeachment, let alone throughout the process. But hey, as long as WE go high...and we can go to sleep at night knowing we did our absolute best to not offend any demographic, and if Trump gets easier treatment and maybe even gets off because of it? Meh...its more important to know our party never crossed the line and stuck to the politeness rules (that they imposed).

No reason to oblige Republicans who falsely used the daily about Obama and the Clintons.

This isn’t any reason to begin any impeachment inquiry now, but I sure am amused by all the “reasons” we need to side step our leadership and try and force them into doing something when it’s not prudent.

I stand with Pelosi, Schiff and the 6 committees working on justice.
