Hortensis
(58,785 posts)article that had been published just over a week before the 2016 election. The NYT article mislead readers that the FBI's Trump-Russia investigation hadn't found anything and implied it was winding down instead of revving up.
The NYT's original authors protested, but their very different article was altered and published to push this enormous, extremely timely pro-Trump lie.
I never forget. The Associated Press did similar.

(2,243 posts)I'm sure we all agree*, but I thought it was worth having in the open air.
One may be somewhat more rightist authoritarian, and one may be somewhat more leftist authoritarian; But, both are horribly illiberal.
That is not a brush that I will allow him to paint me with without defending myself.

Proper attribution where it's due.
Also, Bertrams is based in The Netherlands, so the perception/usage difference is a potential factor.

(2,243 posts)Whole different use of the terms, that I really don't have a good grasp of.
Just far too used to that kind of noise from FB I suppose.
And many Thanks for making clear the attribution.

(32,869 posts)... however he lost his job last year because the right-wing owner (Block family) and the executive editor didn't like his anti-Trump cartoons. So now Rob Rogers is still cartooning, but not for the PPG.
Edit to add link: Here's his latest (link) https://robrogers.com/

(14,179 posts)Everyone must write in and protest this. They have to understand how important a contribution political cartoonists make.
I think a lot has to do with not being able to control the message. These artists have a lot of leeway, naturally. And I'd say that most, at least the best, are more liberal than the senior editors of papers. Certainly of the owners. This goes for all major papers. A cartoonist is able to leap frog the editors opinion piece as the first impression viewers see. I'm sure for many more conservative senior editors this is a great day.

(91,003 posts)..."Easter egg" but brought him back after a suitable interval because his strip is very popular and a lot of people let the Times know it. Naughty boy, don't hide "Fuck Trump" in your cartoon again.
In the case of the NY Times, this is just baffling.
I didn't know about the Non Sequitur cartoon! Glad they brought it back, it is a classic.
I am really surprised at the NY times. Hopefully, the public outrage will cause them to rethink their decision.

(63,221 posts)The decision of the NYT was cowardly and wrong. I am beginning to think they really are afraid of Donald Trump.
