OUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - It's a video you have to see. A woman jumped through the window of her own car to stop a thief.
"As soon as I saw my door open, I jumped in the car," the woman told Channel 2's Alyssa Hyman.
In the video, criminals can be seen pulling up to a Texaco gas station in College Park. While the woman was pumping her gas, the passenger of the other vehicle jumped out and tried to get into her car.
She was too quick for the criminals. She jumped into her car and they then drove off.
"I didn't have a chance to think; all I was thinking was, he's not about to take my stuff," she said. "It was mind-blowing. I just couldn't believe he was doing this while I'm standing here."

(3,528 posts)Either that or she is super paranoid (and rightly so, obviously). I mean, the guy got out of his car and shes leaping across her seat? Maybe there have been a rash of car highjacking in her area? I know I wouldnt have suspected a thing until my car was driving off down the road!

(16,334 posts)In Atlanta. Yes, it's become very common so they keep warning people about it. There are even gas stations near the airport where this is known to happen on a regular basis. So yes, she was probably on the lookout just like most of us here. What's impressive is the leap she took. I'm too old for that!

(19,475 posts)It's common for thieves to open the door opposite from the person pumping gas. People often leave their car doors unlocked and their possessions inside the car. They're watching the pump or the gas nozzle. The theft can happen quickly.
