Between the war drums for Iran and the disregard for the law and for ethical behavior...

I cannot really put into words the danger that has been presented by this administration this past week.

Everyone who has said in the past that Trump will just continue to get worse was correct. Unless something stops this behavior in its tracks, it will also continue to get worse going forward.

When Trump stated that he would accept dirt on opponents from foreign countries, I immediately wondered how his supporters would spin this.

I got my answer quickly. I ran across a post elsewhere from a rabid Trump supporter. It went something like this...He posted the video from ABC which showed the conversation between Stephanopholous and Trump. To paraphrase the poster's comments... "Look at this fucking bullshit video. They edited it and doctored it to make Trump look bad. They cherry-picked the President's words. Fucking liberals will sink to the lowest level they can just to win the 2020 election".

Since Trump has been in office, I go through periods where I am almost in a panic state. This is one of those periods. What this country is experiencing is a sort of mass brain washing of his "base". SOMEBODY with knowledge on how to combat this needs to start speaking up. I know there are people who speak up now, but it is not impacting anything as quickly and as forcefully as things need to be impacted. In real life, I put myself at risk by forcefully knocking down any pro-Trump bullshit that I hear. We need a streetfighter who can put some fear into those who choose to support Trump. Who would that be and how would they approach this? Who the hell knows. I know a lot of you will disagree with me on this, and I know there are some good fighters on our side. But the fucker is still in office, and the emboldened fuckheads that voted for Trump are not going away anytime soon. Investigations will not fix this. Impeachment will not fix this. Voting him out will not fix this (quickly). And I sure as hell have no clue how to fix this. I believe we will win AT THE VERY LEAST the executive branch in 2020, but then we still have the problem of how do we fix that which has been broken so badly?

I could see this coming many many months ago. *I* and *you* could see it coming. The majority of people in this country could see it coming. But yet, here we are.

I am not sure what the exact point of this post is, except to say that all of this shit is worse than it may appear. I have a natural tendency to try to find the good in people even when I don't like them. Every once in awhile when GWB spoke, I cracked a smile at something he said or did. I then would catch myself after a few seconds and remember that his policies got people killed. With Trump's ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION, I NEVER ONCE HAD A GOOD LIGHTHEARTED FEELING ABOUT ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH THAT RANCID LOT. NOT EVEN ONCE.

Each of us have been through terrible shit in our years of living. I've used my terrible experiences to toughen my skin and strengthen my resolve. But I gotta tell you (and I know I'm preaching to the choir here)...our country is morbidly sick. Bad fever. On life support. To those who say that the good people in the US will pull us through this sickness, well, I'd like to believe that, but I'm not so sure. It boggles the mind that a crazed minority have have such a devastating impact.

I've talked seriously with a few people who are smarter than me in matters relating to the state of USA affairs, and in so many words, their responses can be boiled down to "keep your head down, it's going to be a rough ride".

When we hopefully somehow break this fever, the only good thing that I can conclude is that MAYBE there will be an unbreakable resolve to never let this shit happen again.

the brainwashing is unbelievable, these people are not thinking for themselves, they just believe everything they are told.....it is just plain scary how effective it has been.

It's why I sport the upside-down flag.....America is in serious distress.

that much I know - it astounds me when I a coworker I KNOW should know better sends me a "fact" in in email (trashing Dems) that could be easily disproved in very little time by researching on the internet.....they just BELIEVE what they are told because they are being told what they want to hear.....it is sickening and scary

Look at how many intelligent people who held leadership roles have spoken up about the danger of tRump. Former prosecutors, FBI agents, former politicians (even (R)'s), retired high ranking military officers. WHY is he allowed to continue on his path of destruction? The man is no brainiac, in fact he is stupid in a low class sort of way. If he was even half as smart, charismatic, handsome, fit as he THINKS he is , he would STILL come up short of previous presidents. Too bad Saint Ronnie closed most of the insane asylums. tRump belongs in one, along with members of his cabinet and enablers in the gop. We are living in VERY dangerous times, Putin was a genius putting this destroyer of people into the WH. No nukes needed, just turn tRump loose.

Joe McCarty had nearly five years of destroying people’s lives until he was finally stopped by Congressional hearings and the media. From the History Channel: “Along with the Army-McCarthy hearings, journalist Edward R. Murrow’s exposés of McCarthyism played an important role in the senator’s downfall. On March 9, 1954, millions of Americans watched as the national news program "See It Now" attacked McCarthy and his methods.”

We no longer have journalists with the stature of Edward R. Murrow or Walter Cronkite, whose words could help move a nation. Instead we have newspeople who report all news and all views as being equal, so that Trump selling nuclear technology gets no more attention than his incessant tweets about no collusion, no collusion. The opinion shows are the worst, presenting the views of all the Trump nuts as equal to those of scientists, lawyers, environmental experts, economists, etc. The media no longer analyzes the impact of actions and policies. During the entire time the Republicans were trying to kill Obamacare, I never saw one news program about how the ACA had allowed millions of people to finally have health insurance or why those people did not have it in the first place. Republicans (with some Democratic help to be honest) have allowed big corporations to classify people as contractors instead of employees, to cut hours to avoid paying benefits, and to set up the whole gig economy to offload the costs of health insurance, payroll taxes, and retirement savings.

We badly need a hero. One idea is for Don McGahn to show a bit of the courage and and honesty of John Dean with his Nixon testimony, and McGahn doesn’t even risk going to jail. McGahn needs to decide whether his future with the Heritage Foundation is more important than this country. If he has any honor and patriotism, he will testify publicly and expose the criminal actions of Trump and his administration for the world to hear. ABC, NBC, and CBS should be required to cover the hearings live and on the evening news (I’m not sure they can be required to do that as a public service), but I have little faith that McGahn would put the future of the country ahead of his personal interests as Dean did. Unfortunately, he is also close to McConnell.

McGahn is the hero the country needs now. He is a Republican and cannot be accused of playing partisan games. He is the only one I can think of who could bring the country to understand the real damage that Trump is doing. Even Mueller cannot do so because Trump has already painted him as the leader of the witch hunt, and Mueller chickened out and refused to clearly state that Trump committed crimes, even though he found much evidence to support such a claim.

I cannot think of anyone else who could challenge the belief that Trump did nothing wrong and is fine as a president. If he is reelected, Republicans will almost certainly retain control of the Senate and there will be no way to get rid of Trump. Considering the damage he has done in just over two years, I really cannot imagine what would be left of this country after six more years of Trump.

for some time now.

It has become all about profit, and if there is no 'horse race' from which to profit, they will create one.
