What's going on with Adam Schiff?

He's always been one of my favorite Congress members, but he's acting weird lately. He's now siding with Trump and Pompeo on the Iran attack. He's saying he's disturbed that US intel isn't sharing info with Trump about Russian cyber attacks, because they don't trust him..

Schiff has never sided with Trump this much.

The ships did not shoot themselves. Who in the leadership or candidates are backing Iran's non-denial denial?

They have no idea WHO attacked them. Eyewitness accounts can be all over the place. The point is 8 ships have been attacked. Are they attacking themselves?

If there is credible intelligence that Iran or someone allied with Iran was behind the attack, that's not "siding with Trump and Pompeo" to say so. That's relying on intelligence sources. Of course the reasons for the attack and the appropriate reaction of the U.S. to it will be spun to Trump's advantage, but that doesn't mean Schiff is wrong or siding with Trump if he says Iran was involved, considering his access to intelligence.

even if it aligns with you-know-who. We certainly should expect him to take a difference stance merely becausethe President has another view.

It's not much of a leap to accept Iran did this, although we need solid proof.

Sun Jun 16, 2019, 08:23 PM
Jun 2019

"What I found most disturbing about that New York Times story about whether we're preparing the battlefield, in terms of the electrical grid in Russia, was the fact that the security officials with the administration felt they couldn't tell this to the president because he might compromise that information in a conversation with the Russians," Schiff told "Face the Nation" Sunday.

"Or he might countermand their orders, their military decisions, because of the president's obsequious attitude towards Russia," he added.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/adam-schiff-on-face-the-nation-cites-disturbing-report-of-military-keeping-trump-in-the-dark-on-russia/

On Edit: Schiff seems to be saying he's disturbed about the NTY report that the military is holding back info because Trump is too risky. Not that he thinks they should share the information with Trump.

And regarding Iran;

REP. SCHIFF: There's no question that Iran is behind the attacks. I think the evidence is very strong and compelling. In- in fact, I think this was a class "A" screw up by Iran to insert a mine on the ship. It didn't detonate. They had to go back and retrieve it. I can imagine there are some Iranian heads rolling for that botched operation. But nonetheless, the problem is that we are struggling, even in the midst of this solid evidence, to persuade our allies to join us in any kind of a response and it shows just how isolated the United States has become. Our allies warned the United States, I think our intelligence agencies warned policymakers, that this kind of Iranian reaction was likely a result of a policy of withdrawing from the Iran Nuclear Agreement.

And so what we see is a split of the US from our allies and we see Russia and China coming together and having Iran's back. This is, I think, the worst of all situations and the maximalist pressure campaign has massively failed and only heightened the risk of conflict. For my colleague, Senator Cotton, to advocate that we attack Iran and provoke a war, that there's no Congressional authorization necessary, I think is exactly the wrong answer on- on both levels. Congressional approval is necessary to initiate hostilities against Iran. We should be trying to corral a response, though, from the international community to protect shipping, to impose sanctions, but because we have so alienated ourselves from our allies, that's not happening.

On Edit: Schiff is saying that there is something to this but that there should basically be a way around this that avoids a military conflict.

Could some of Trump's people be planting bogus intel that's fed to our Reps through standard channels?

Trumps people (like W's) create their own reality and know that some will follow without question and then feed it into the echo chamber. But, I would anticipate Rep. Schiff would know that and endeavor to verify his intel.

The Pentagon does not trust Trump enough to give him information because he might tell it.

That is what I read in Schiff's words. Not sure about the Iran info, except Bolton has wanted a war with Iran for 20 years and Trump’s choices are too dumb to care.

Netanyahu would love a war. Deflect from all his problems, wife convicted, him charged and he can not even form a Government. And Trump will do anything to detract from his criminality.
