Why is the media DEAD silent on children in cages?

^^^This

What AOC said is a front page controversy, but not the atrocities being committed?

WTF?

I mean... the media DID care about a year ago. This was a big deal. Then... It just went away.

If any other country did this to American children, we would be nuking them back to the pre-Cambrian era before dawn.

It comes down to this - either you are pro-putting children in cages and treating them like diseased animals or you're NOT. And yes, it IS this simple.

I no longer recognize this country. As a veteran, this sickens me. I did not wear the uniform to support this savagery.

I am sick of calling my senators and congresspeople and seeing NOTHING done about this. NOTHING. There are no bills being passed, no legislation moving forward, nothing. We are doing NOTHING about this. A few days ago, the US was being placed in a category with Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Iran. If you're known by the company you keep, what does THIS say about us ?

Our allies no longer look to us for leadership and guidance. They no longer trust us the keep our word or even uphold our own moralizing.

Our laws no longer mean anything as they are being broken every day with impunity from the WH on down.

If we are no longer a nation of laws, what are we ?

I no longer have any answers.

to bunk on the ground behind a fence.
So we get reports on policy, but no recent documentary evidence of the
deprivation, cruelty, substandard conditions and abuse.
I had hoped investigative reporters might be able to follow up on deportees or those released.
Yeah, fickle news cycle. But once a few photos got out, I am sure stronger measures were put in
place to guard the secret operations.

But I read today that the reason they are moving these migrants to military bases is so they can close the doors even tighter to any scrutiny. The military can refuse to allow anyone to enter their facilities.

In all of the hideous things that have happened in the past two years, this incarceration of immigrants (especially the children!) is the worst. I wish I could collect ALL of the children and bring them to my house and love them.

also where are we as people taking to the streets demanding action? Remember the huge demonstrations when they first proposed their travel ban for Muslims? It seems like after the Women's March and the success of the 2018 election things have gone astray as far as the street. I honestly don't know if it's just burn-out or what but nobody in power is going to react much to just words on TV or in a newspaper. They've all got the PR people to get them through that.

except as customers.

The executives of our news networks support Republicans and have for decades. They are the wealthy who are getting the tax breaks and other benefits selling Republican baloney to the public.

“Government is the problem” of

Tax cuts for “job creators” create job opportunities and promote a healthy economy.

Spending only matters when Democrats are helping average Americans but not when we’re handing billions to huge companies and investors.

Immigration had only become a huge issue again because the GOP needed a distraction from the unpopular Iraq Resolution and the crashing economy that failed due to conservative fiscal policies.

Then Boom! all that mattered was illegals supposedly stealing all our jobs.
And that became the focus thanks to cable news and online conservative blogs.

Typical narcissistic tactic. Divert the conversation gets the attention off what you are doing.

Get others to fight your battles online anonymously that way they can distance themselves if necessary.

Are Children Being Kept in 'Cages' at the Border?
A semantic debate is raging over what to call the pens where migrant kids are being held after separation from their parents.
?mod=1533691458

It’s hard to think of something more tangible than a child incarcerated in a tent city or a former Walmart building—and yet as the story of families being separated at the border mushrooms, one of the central questions has been a semantic one: whether the migrant children are being kept in cages.

Here’s what no one disputes: When the children are separated from their parents, they’re sent to facilities where they are kept in chain-link pens they can’t leave. But are those cages? It depends on whom you ask.

Doing this to children is so unacceptable that it is easy to forget that the treatment of the adults is also unacceptable.

We need to try to get the public to focus on the children now That’s more urgent as they are being scarred for life and is the more compelling csse, but I hope we don’t forget the adults who are held in at least as bad physical conditions.
