As much as many Democrats want her to push for impeachment of Donald Trump, many Republicans want it even more. They believe it would be to their political advantage.

Republicans understand that they are walking on very shaky ground. They are living in political chaos, with nothing being predictable except the unpredictability of Donald Trump.

They fear that something will happen, or be exposed, before the next election. They were lucky to get thru the first two years of the Trump Administration, even though they experienced a thorough beating in the last election cycle.

They bask in the glow from Trump's base. Because they understand that they have no chance to remain in power without the support of Trump's base. But if it is below 45% of Republican votes, it could spell big trouble for them in the next election?

In the next election, in my opinion, the people are not looking for any big promises from politicians. They are looking for stability. They are looking for consistency. They are looking for law and order from our institutions. They are not asking for much...

1. Pelosi is letting Democratic members come to their own conclusions so when they talk about

why they support impeachment they can actually talk about what matters instead of why they agree/disagree with Pelosi .

this is especially important for the members from swing districts that were recently flipped.

2. I watched another hearing this morning . All Republicans did was complain

About the witnesses called and read things that happened years ago.

Nadler contradicted them very well on why fact witnesses had not been called. The blanket protection is going to Court.

I have no problem with the way Democrats are proceeding. Jordan could not rant about these witnesses. Gaetz tried but was told what he was talking about had nothing to do with the hearing. Nadler shucks t him down, chewed out another for trying to impugn the witnesses. He is now well prepared for their nonsense.

3. Not asking for much?

I think that is exactly wrong. I think they are going to demand a government that works for them, and responds to them.

Funny thing is , tRump promised that, and didn't deliver (better health care for everyone, for much less money! for one thing). He lied of course, but it wasn't all racism that elected him (8 million Obama-to-tRump voters).

I think the government needs to start producing some big changes to address our big crises. Going back to the status quo ante is not enough, however much of a breath of relief it is.

If they get a clue, Republicans may soon realize they're on their own if they want to survive. Trump is an albatross.
