(115,807 posts)I've read that the Episcopal, Lutheran, Catholic, Methodist and UCC churches are trying to get involved, although so far it doesn't seem that the right-wing evangelicals are very interested.

(11,337 posts)You're right on both points. Plenty of church organizations are quite involved (and have been for a long, long time). And the evangelicals seem to have misplaced Jesus somewhere. I think he's been replaced by Trump?

Volunteers Say They're Being Targeted For Leaving Water To Help Migrants:
No More Deaths says some volunteers face misdemeanor charges for supporting migrants on restricted federal lands.
Clergy and lay leaders from the Unitarian Universalist Association led Sundays action, with representation from Presbyterian, United Church of Christ and Jewish denominations who flew in from across the country, said Michael Givens, a spokesperson for the Unitarian Universalist Associations humanitarian arm.

(108,990 posts)The Interfaith Immigration Coalition (IIC) is a partnership of faith-based organizations committed to enacting fair and humane immigration reform that reflects our mandate to welcome the stranger and treat all human beings with dignity and respect. Coalition members work together to advocate for just and equitable immigration policies, educate faith communities, and serve immigrant populations around the country.
Just one example:

TAPACHULA, Mexico Pope Francis has donated $500,000 to assist migrants attempting to travel through Mexico, but who are increasingly being impeded by Mexican officials from reaching the U.S. border.
Those migrants who travel the length of Mexico are also being impeded in their attempts to apply for asylum in the United States and remain in precarious conditions south of the border.
The donation will be distributed among 27 projects in 16 dioceses and Mexican religious congregations that have asked for help to continue providing housing, food and basic necessities to these brothers and sisters, the Vatican charity Peters Pence said in an April 27 statement.
The Vatican already approved projects run by seven dioceses and three religious congregations: the Scalabrinians, the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and the Hermanas Josefinas.
