The media talk about Him like he's sentient, brilliant, and thoughtful...

I'm listening to this commentator jabber on MSNBC that "The President" has many international affairs on his mind while at the Summit but has turned his attention at the moment to the "Democratic Primary Battle" and also "focuses" on that as well.

Hey! We got us a real innaleckshul multi-tasker for President, right? Just imagine: he's embroiled in the thick of the complex and arcane social, fiscal, political, and defense-establishment issues surrounding all of these countries, and the genius is that he can take the time to pay attention to the Opposition Party's goings-on. To paraphrase Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, "Look at the Brain on Donald!"

It is outrageous that he is afforded the mantle of competence and sanity.

It makes me question my own sanity. It's like, wait, he needs to be hauled off in a strait-jacket and they are just sitting there coolly discussing his behavior like he's a normal or even exceptional person.

Can we all stop pretending that this psychopathic moron is anything but bat-shit crazy?

The specific purpose of gaslighting is to make you question your own sanity. Gaslighting will always work unless you pointedly defend against it, and that is why it is so terribly dangerous.

The MSM has to legitimize a serial rapist, racist xenophobe with the intellectual curiosity of a turtle's penis in order not to alienate those people who a) fanatically believe in this creature as the new Jesus and b) buy corporate products. Except for Fox, which will kiss the Leader's butt willingly and eagerly, regardless (maybe because of) the children he cages, regardless (maybe because of) his flaming ignorance of the true cost of war in terms of blood, bones, and skin, all MSM outlets know that they have to pretend to a kind of blessed both-sidedness in their reportage -- except, of course, for MSM folks like Rachel, Stephen Colbert, and others who are permitted, contractually, to maintain their integrity and not pretend, even briefly and for commercial purposes, that this Turd is a rose.

Sat Jun 29, 2019, 09:41 AM
Jun 2019

More and more profit is their motivation, and Republicans kowtow to that goal more than Democrats, who often cost them money with higher taxes. Corporations and their wealthiest shareholders exercise the true levers of power in Washington. They are able to buy low-tax policies and continue the transfer of wealth from the 99% to the 1% by supporting the right candidates; namely, Republicans who care only for their own power and cushy jobs in Congress where they’re not really held accountable by voters for accomplishing anything.

Until more voters wake up and get rid of Republicans who support these policies, we will continue to decline as a country until we finally reach that breaking point where the 99% can no longer sustain itself. Do we then have uprisings, civil war, with secession of some states? Who knows? But we should take the example of Venezuela seriously—once a rich country, now a no man’s land on the verge of collapse caused by corrupt government leaders whose sole purpose was to enrich themselves, totalitarian policies, and corrupt police/military. Any of that sound familiar?

The fact that we have a complete imbecile in the white house, who has absolutely no idea what he's doing and no clue of what he doesn't know. Meanwhile, the country is running on a mixture of autopilot, momentum and nefarious presidential aids. From laziness and muscle memory, they keep wanting to place the template of past presidents on this dumpster fire and it simply won't fit. In fact, from the outside, it makes them look incredibly stupid to do so. One wants to just grab the collective media, shake them vigorously and say loudly and slowly....LISTEN! America is having a Caligula moment. DO NOT treat this as normal! It is NOT!

We want to believe we're the best country in the world, and we want to believe that our president is the best person for the job.

Or at least many, many Americans believe that way. Trumpler's political rallies resemble WWE matches for their entertainment value and to fire up the base. Trumplodytes' "love" of Trumpler is more akin to a toddler's love of their parents. There's no qualifiers for it, no allowance for criticism. Pure "my daddy can beat your daddy" schoolyard bullshit.

Patriotism has been reduced to adolescent high school allegiance displays. Pep rallies before the Homecoming game. Pure "Be True to Your School" crap. And of course, we're not allowed to choose the priciple and staff. We must leave that to our "betters."

is the media KNOWS he's an unmitigated, pompous ass they need (want?) to support (for their money and their employer's) so much so that they have to find ways to couch their comments to make him look good.

I'm not sure how these "newsreaders and note takers" (that's all they are...journalists are extinct - they're even lousy stenographers!) can cash their checks or co-exist with friends and family with any kind of self respect. I'd love to meet one at a party but probably be jailed.

that Trump isn't a lying, know nothing, ignorant, racist, misogynist, xenophobic, dictator worshipping, shit stirring turd. They prop him up by ignoring his stupidity, dismissing his nonstop lies, bringing on Repukes to defend him, and treating the giant shitshow that is his administration as though it's politics as usual. The suits in charge are the 1% who benefit the most when a Repuke (even one as horrific as Trump) is polluting the White House.

The Democrats will not get favorable mainstream media coverage in the runup to the election. The die hards don't care what he does, and they only watch Fox, so they live in an alternate reality anyway. Our best hope is that enough voters in swing states have seen for themselves that Trump hasn't kept any of his promises to them and never intended to.

There is absolutely nothing normal about where we find ourselves at this time in history. For the longest time, I could not understand how lots of DU'ers still watch MSNBC. Actually, I don't watch much of any TV news since I don't have cable. It's not only the Rush Limbaughs of the country that we can blame, but all the other talking heads that want to play both sides of the field so that either way in the end they'll come out looking like they were correct or in order to up their numbers for their masters who own the networks.

They know how to play viewers. One day we're praising and high fiving an anti-Trump statement one of them makes and the next day that same person is talking out of the other side of their mouth.

Boycotts do work sometimes.

Seven years ago, I got to spend an hour with the sitting president. Subjects covered were the upcoming re-election campaign, Republican electoral fraud, health insurance reform, budget deficit cutting, Syria, the Egyptian economy, and some etc. Obama was conversant in all subjects, no notes. I doubt Trump could find Egypt on a map. Hell, I doubt he would know on what continent to start looking.
