Already knew most of the history, but it sure was nice to see some entitled, deluded, stuck in a bubble, religious, superstitious, "god-chosen", aristocratic, autocratic, unresponsive, tone deaf, sanctimonious fuckheads get their comeuppance, even if only simulated by actors. LOL

Yes, it proved that royalty is not always educated and worthy of ruling a country. I liked seeing the context and added perspective.

Funny thing is, if Alexander the II lived and wasn't assassinated...he would have carried out his reforms and the revolution probably would have never happened.
And the ironic thing....he was assassinated by people who didn't think the reforms were coming fast enough. And the next two Tsar's, decided against reform due to the assassination.

(17,086 posts)I didn't realize the series ended after the fifth episode of the second season. I figured they had another 80 years of material or so, but, too soon, I guess.

(31,388 posts)I found Rasputin's approach to sin and salvation (you can't be saved unless you've sinned) a possible explanation for the Evangelical support of the orange one. Makes sense when you think about it. Just like Rasputin encouraged sin so there could be repentance, Evangelicals are willing to forgive Trump of all his many sins that make his presumed repentance even better because there are so many of them. Having the best sins is so like Rasputin!
